Welcome!
We're not that hostile to newcomers. I agree we can't get too disrespectful to other posters but this new found respect for Nets isn't a genuine gesture. Its Cs fans hoping their own karma doesn't hurt them. None of that positivity was echoed when we acquired Russell, Crabbe or Carroll.

That comment was a troll post by a Celtics fan. These are the same fans who openly pray for our players to get injured. They were ecstatic last season when Jeremy Lin got hurt. They were all but calling us dead in the water last week, now all of a sudden they're rooting for us so that the Irving trade doesn't blow up in their faces. Any time you see a Celtics avatar posting on here, best believe there's ill intent behind their post
Welcome to the party. 3 point bombs and lots of fun ahead for our Nets

Yeah, it just feels disingenuous. And by the way, I didn't have the greatest time visiting Boston a couple of times years ago, but hopefully things have improved.
BRK balls out and misses the playoffs by 1 game. BOS fans ecstatic that they traded a dud of a pick to get Kyrie. CLE fans on suicide watch as LBJ bolts.
BRK fans happy with how the season went, MASSIVE growth, loss of the pick doesnt hurt much, as clearly the FO knows wath theyre doing.
Ping pong balls has BRK with the worst odds to win the lotto, win the lotto (1-3 doesnt matter).
**** YOU BOSTON!
I'm not crass enough to wish injury on Kyrie, but tbh i think Ainge managed his assets terriby.
MrDollarBills wrote:If the Cavs void the deal I'll laugh my ass off at those clown Celtic fans.
Couple of ironic factors:
- This means Ainge tried to move IT knowing his hip injury might shorten his career.
- This deal becomes voided if the Cs can't renegotiate a deal. What else can they add in a new trade? No free agents can be traded and the most they can offer now is LAL pick, MEM pick, their own.
- CLE needs a replacement for Irving regardless and will look elsewhere if need be.
- Boston cannot move a disgruntled 5'9 PG with possible arthritis in his hip on the verge of a payday.
- This likely destroys any good relationship between IT4 and Celtics. The trade w/o warning, jersey burning, locker room reports he wasn't liked. Ainge did not defend him publicly but Stevens did.
Look at this quote from HOF, Isiah Thomas on IT4's reaction to the trade.
Spoiler:
“From a basketball standpoint, he and Kyrie Irving, this will be great for both of them,” Isiah Thomas said. “Both will do well. But it really was like a punch in the gut because it came out of nowhere. Kyrie was expecting a trade, he was prepared for it. And talking to Isaiah the other night, now he’s scrambling, trying to find out where his kids are going to go to school, trying to find a place to live. And it was just so unexpected for him…. “He said he gave his heart and soul to the Celtics,” Isiah Thomas said. “He gave them everything. It’s a business and we all understand that it’s a business, but to have it happen in such a way for him. I think it really hurt him. I think it’s going to be difficult for him to trust again, to give that trust, that loyalty, that love to another organization. “And I definitely think the Cavs are going to have to do some relationship mending to get him back to the point where he loves being where he’s at. Because he’s a small guy and the thing that gets him over is his love and his passion. And if those things are kind of missing a little bit, it’s going to be hard.”
Hip injuries - especially inoperable ones - not good
Things in East change a lot if Cavs take Bucks offer instead -- Brogdon. Middleton and a first round pick. With all talk this week of Bron leaving Cleveland next year, I could see it happening.
Celtics would be screwed Bucks' could rise to near top in East

I see the Wizards being the biggest winners this off-season. They retailed their squad. Got rid of awful defenders (Bogie, Nicholson). Added Meeks, Tim Frazier.
Wizards and Bucks will be main eventing the Conference Finals soon.

I think the Cavs would definitely need a lot more than that. Brogdon is the same age as Kyrie (both born in 92), Middleton struggled after his injury and the Bucks pick will be in the 25-30 range with Giannis and Kyrie on the team.
That's a huge drop off from the value they would be getting from Boston even if IT is injured IMO.

I think it'll be Bucks/Sixers/Celtics competing once Lebron leaves. IMO Joel Embiid was a top 10-15 player in the league last season for the brief period of time when he was actually playing, now they added 2 more #1 picks and 50+ mill in cap space.
I don't see the Wizards ever actually competing unless Otto Porter takes a leap. There just aren't many ways for them to significantly improve their roster especially when walls new deal kicks in.

Embiid has to see 82 games before he can be considered a top 10 difference maker or lead a playoff team. A lot of the stuff we endured with Lopez wasn't as bad as some of the stuff Embiid has suffered and still recovering from.
Wall/Beal carried the Wizards to the second round in Year 1 under Brooks. Those two will get better. Porter was 6th in DRPM. Does he need to improve drastically for them to contend when their competition is getting worse?

I don't think their competition is getting worse though, just shifting around. Even if we ignore the Sixers who now have 3 guys that were consensus #1 draft picks in their classes (without Embiids injury) and have crazy amounts of cap space to improve. The Celtics are still getting better every year, even if the Kyrie trade doesn't go through, and Giannis looks more and more like Lebron himself every season and will have cap space going forward. All 3 of those teams have clear paths to improving their roster and young guys that aren't contributing now but are equally as likely to get better as Beal/Wall/Porter, if not more likely.
The Wizards are stuck with their current core with no way to improve outside of developing players who I can't see getting significantly better since they're already pretty damn good (maybe Porter). That's what happens when a team refuses to let their RFAs leave and sign terrible big men to large long term contracts.

The Celtics lost 80% of their continuity on top of this added wrinkle of drama. They lost Bradley, Crowder, Thomas, Johnson, Jerbeko, Zeller, Olynyk.
If the deal doesn't go through, they retain IT, Crowder but Crowder was already spotted wearing a Cleveland practice gear, and then his mom passed away a few days ago. It's been said he didn't want to be there before. Imagine how it is right now.
Camp opens in 3 weeks. The chemistry will be a huge question mark with them.
The short term is they take a step back but again, that only means teams like the Wizards, Bucks have a greater shot at competing against LeBron in the ECF this season and then can compete against each other next season for a Finals birth against GS or the LeBron & Lonzo Lakers.
