That doesn’t seem realistic. Rubio would basically have to become like a 20/5/9 player to be in the running for MIP. He’s a career 11/4/8 guy, last season was 13/4/6, so where is the statistical jump going to come from to get him in the running?

Well there is a big difference between
“would be cool” and “will be cool”

If he helps lead the suns to the playoffs after a near decade drought... he would have a good story line.

Serbia's coach was totally outcoached today and by a large margin.
Jokic ejection was somehow a blessing in disguise because they were getting abused with him and milutinov on the floor together. First start him and start focusing on that pick and roll / pick and pop with jokic and bogdanovic.

But overall i think France is the most dangerous team. Fournier/de colo/batum/gobert is tough and has star power.
Our coach suck though.

I see that lot of people here are happy that Serbia lost, but we are not done yet.

Serbia had a terrible game but still a great team who will play much better in the next game/s, for sure. Really happy that you lost today though, Spain wasn´t flashy at all and has many weaknesses but played a pretty solid game. Scariolo makes the most of them it seems, and I hope they keep improving.

Off to Nadal, vamos!

I'm watching Nadal-Medvedev here at 2:40 at night, best f***ng tennis match I've seen.

U know why it's better we lost... We now have to beat Argentina, probably USA in the semis and than win in the finals to win it all

So if we have won today, everybody would say we had the easiest path to the gold ever and similar ;)

Keep being humble. That' s the path to get beaten by Argentina.

I am not sure where all this arrogance is coming from? It's not like this team won anything in the last 15 years...

I don't know man, most improved isn't really a story line type award, it's a what were your stats last season vs now, and then story line only matters after the stats. Look at the last five winners:

Siakam: 7/5/2 to 17/9/3
Oladipo: 16/4/3 to 23/5/4
Giannis: 17/8/4 to 23/9/5
McCollum: 7/2/1 to 21/3/4
Butler: 13/5/3 to 20/6/3

Leading the Suns to the playoffs wouldn't even mean he had any drastic improvement as a player. The Suns needed a PG badly, so adding a very solid despite flawed one helps them a lot. I don't even know if it would be perceived as him leading them since the Suns had the #1 pick 7'1 C who can make a good improvement in year two and likely will have a statistical improvement, and Booker is still just going to be 23 in the coming season. Still, if it is the most improved award we are looking at, a statistical jump will be needed somewhere. At the minimum we would have to be looking at something like him putting up something like 15-17 ppg, 4-5 rpg, 9-10 apg before he even gets considered, so if you are expecting something like that, then sure, just thought it was an odd award to think of for a guy like Rubio.

Wishful thinking, but it will be nice for Phoenix to finally have someone that can actually run the point. It should serve you well in that fight for the 14th spot in the conference with Memphis.

I read this and thought..this dude is way underrating Phoenix...they'll win at least 30+ games, maybe even 35. And then I realized 35 games might still get you last place in the West....There are no bottom feeders at all in the West next season.

Yea..Ricky at 17/10/5 isn't winning MIP. He's in the running for MVP. That's prime Steve Nash but with defense.

I see Ricky putting up a more realistic 14/7 and the Suns winning 35 games. And that would be a very good season considering they only won 19 games last year.

First decent team Serbia plays dismantles them. Slow footed defensive liabilities at almost every position.

Shame this loss to Spain likely sends the Serbs home without a medal. Maybe it means they get smart and naturalize an American who can help lead them to relevance

A few fun facts about Team USA:

** Plays with the fastest pace
** Attempts the most FGs per game, over 5 fga per game more than any other team
** Attempts the most 3-pt FGs per game, over 4 3pt fga per game more than any other team
** Averages the most rebounds per game, almost 8 rpg than any other team

Basically, the idea is to play faster, get more shots up and get more rebounds, letting their athletic advantage take effect.

Medvedev is 6’6” or 1.98 meters. Anyone else think he could have been a hell of a shooting guard?

I like Myles Turner in the pivot. I don't think there is defensive 3 secs rule. He should be a big boost on defense and rebounding in this format. The Team USA chances have gotten better.

Micic’s mother passed away, that might explain his bad playing. It will be decided today, if he will continue playing in WC. Serbia is in very difficult situations, there’s almost no guards left.
