Who would be the guy you are fighting for us to draft?
Cam
Ausar
Black
Jarace
Who else?

If you were considering fit, who would be the best fit for our roster?

Instead, we have everyone trying to decipher every quote to say "oh they are taking him, or oh if that is true shouldn't they be taking him instead?...

The amount of conviction some fans have for 1 guy over the guy ranked 1 spot lower is kind of nuts. Heck many boards have him #2 and people still are up in arms. Just wild to me.

Jaden Ivey, Jabari Smith were both guys fans were diehard to go #1 last year and neither even made 1st team NBA.
Nobody had Haliburton as a top 5 pick a few years ago, there were people on our board who wanted Wiseman so bad they would of traded 3 and Bridges for him...Plenty of people had both Ball and Fultz ahead of Tatum... So many people were die hard Hezonja fans heading into the draft... I mean 100s of examples that don't even have anything to do with Hornets where people were just flat wrong.

Everything always looks so obvious when you look back on it, but it almost never is.

I mean, we also have plenty of examples of the Hornets making decisions that were flat out wrong as well, which probably factors a helluva lot more into why people are worried/concerned here than what some other random team did years ago. And having lived through most of these decisions, while there are times where fans want one player and they don't end up working out, that almost always coincides with the team picking another player and them still not working out, soooo yeah.

Factor all that in with the fact that Scoot has been the consensus #2 behind Wembanyama for at least a year now (and the only reason he has been replaced by Miller in a few cases is because of our particular interest in him), teams are talking about trading up to draft Scoot and no one (?) is doing the same to trade up and draft Miller, etc., I can see why fans are nervous that we are going to screw this up as we have so many times in previous drafts.

Scoot was the consensus #2 until he was pretty average in the G League and Miller had an incredible year. It's been reported more teams have Miller as the #2 BPA than Scoot but who knows at this point

As much as I love LaMelo, I worry about the injury history and I think we can rebound just fine with both Scoot and Miller, Miles, Washington, Williams starting 5
I think Portland would value both Scoot and Miller over Melo imo.

Not directly draft related, but it's good to see newer people posting these past few weeks and a few of the older posters showing back up. Haven't been this active on here for a while. So hopefully this upcoming season gives everyone a reason to stick around :)

Last season was tough for me - between Bridges, Bouknight, the lack of defensive effort, injury merry-go-round, etc., etc., I was as close to waving the white flag as I've ever been. For long stretches the team seemed rudderless and disinterested. Mark was really the only reason I tuned into games late season - his play kept me on the hook, the #2 sunk it. So...back in hopeful mode (for now).

Not gonna lie, there's part of me that kinda wishes that Amen had made tremendous improvement in his jumper over the last few months and Mitch trades back to #4, picks up an asset and takes Amen, who becomes a 6-7 do everything terror next to Melo. If that dude figures out how to shoot, good grief.

i was trying to put together a list of who each draft sites, draft gurus had as their #2 player on a big board (not mock - unless they state their mock is what they would do, not what they think will happen). I got bored after 30 mins. Feel free to add to my list.

Scoot
Athletic/Sam Vecenie
NBADraft
CBSSports
SportingNews
Fran Fracilla
ClutchPoints
SBNation
Rod Boone :)
B/R/Wasserman (his mock shows Miller, but he said he his pick would be Scoot)
NoCeilingsNBA/Max Baumbach
NoCeilingsNBA/Tyler Metcalf
UpsideSwings
John Hollinger
Nate Duncan

Miller
Ringer/KOC
DeanOnDraft
JJ Redick
Kevin Pelton
ESPN/Jon Givony
Jay Bilas

Who am I kidding, we'll be Gradey Dick measuring their careers for at least the entirety of their rookie deals. People are just now ending the fufufu-ing about Melo vs Wiseman and Kemba vs Brandon Knight lasted damn near a decade

I pick all the players before they are known and then when they get known I abandon them lol. I only promote players NOT EXPECTED to succeed for the most part...

I always liked to have my OWN STYLE. I never fit in growing up. I was often shunned. I always tried to stay on the straight and narrow and in doing so you often get shut out of things... I stayed a virgin till I was nearly 30 years old *my choice* So while being shut out I embraced the gifts God gave us all, and that gift is loving yourself. So I got so used to doing things alone that it felt normal.

And Scoot was still consensus #2 even after all of that. It wasn't until the Hornets moved up to #2 and there was talk that we would be more interested in Miller since we already had LaMelo that Miller started getting mentioned as #2 ahead of Scoot.

And the G League is a professional league and Scoot is just barely removed from high school. That's a far cry from the NCAAs, especially the NCAAs lately where it is more common for top talent to skip out on the collegiate level entirely. I believe people said the same thing about LaMelo after a relatively lackluster performance overall with his professional team in Australia, and we saw how that didn't exactly translate to how his performance in the NBA.

Lamelo seems more the exception than the rule. I'm fine with Scoot or Miller but it's not like Scoot was very good this season from what I saw.
