I wonder how much GM Giannis had to do with the signing of Kris ? Hope Giannis doesn't turn into James as far as being a team GM !

I try not to speculate out loud what really goes on behind the scenes. I think if Horst told Giannis that signing and trading Khris would help the team, he would stay out of it, but who knows.

Let’s get back on the phone and see what needs to happen to get Jerami Grant here

Probably more than vets on multi year deals and two seconds.

Doubt much more.

I think the Bucks had to re-sign him to keep the salary slot. I can’t imagine a bunch of teams were offering talent to S&T Midds coming off him missing most of the prior season. Plus to S&T him, he has to pass a physical. Not sure if he could at this point.

You hope he can be healthy enough for the playoffs the next two season then package his expiring salary to move him before or during the final season of his contract.

Sports fans get way too caught up in the outliers like LeBron, Brady, etc, and assume their guys will sustain excellence into their 30’s. Most NBA players don’t.

This is Middleton’s 12th season. He’s had bad injuries. He got three all star years and $250mm of career earnings. A title and a gold medal. We’re asking for stuff he can’t give anymore.

Middleton’s a great passer but his scoring isn’t as needed as much in the starting lineup now that we have Dame.

That’s doubly so if BroLo’s offense can be unlocked in Griffin’s system.

Khris coming off the bench in that instance would give him the opportunity to cook second stringers as well as makes the team less disjointed when he misses games.

The challenge then becomes how we can acquire or develop not just 1 but 2 wings that can play playoff caliber defense.

Feed as many minutes as possible to Marjon and Dre, hope Crowder is healthy in April, and trade for Caruso or Thybulle or someone

And yes, Beas and Midds off the bench would provide nice scoring punch.

Our starters have been bad without Khris, I don’t understand the want to have him come off the bench other than being disappointed that he’s hurt all the time now, which isn’t a good enough reason.

Khris and Giannis play well together. Khris needs to start.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

1. One of Griffin’s main claims to fame is developing young players (Jimmy in Chicago). Hoping for the best and think there’s cause to be encouraged. But his other claim to fame is defense…

2. Crowder looked good but of course it’s not great he got hurt so early for the chances we can rely on him in a major way.

3. If Pat is mostly cooked then trading his salary and Portland’s 2nd could yield at least a modest upgrade. Bobby is the more valuable piece we could trade if enticed. Or both for a player/s with more salary.

I feel he had a more aggressive attitude on offense when he came off the bench last year while trying to work back into shape. I do feel like that made for an ideal 6th man.

https://www.nba.com/stats/players/advanced?CF=MIN*GE*7&TeamID=1610612749&dir=A&sort=NET_RATING

Updated net rating of our guys playing relevant minutes. Some notes:

* Despite how painful it is to watch at times, we're making solid progress. Dame and Brook were huge net negatives not that long ago and are now into positive territory. Interesting to see how far they can climb.
* Midds doesn't play much but when he does he has a huge impact for us. I think we've all seen it, but he just can't seem to get his body right which sucks for us.
* Giannis's net rating is pretty meh despite his statistical dominance in the traditional box score areas. Again, I think it's something we're all seeing. He does a lot of good out there but some really dopey stuff too which is holding him back.
* Beas, despite his faults, looks like a pretty good signing so far. For what he gives us at the vet min is pretty significant.
* Our young dudes are still pretty 'meh' given the opportunities they've had so far this year. They're not killing us but not making a huge impact in their roles either. I've been vocal about giving Green a go but he needs to start making some shots (if he has a future in the NBA he needs to be a serious threat that defenders have to chase around screens etc and make shots when he gets them). Marjon is... fine I guess? But he looks like a replacement level player (hopefully he can grow). AJax has potential but is a rook and needs time to learn.

Team lineups data: https://www.nba.com/stats/lineups/advanced?slug=advanced&TeamID=1610612749

* Our core five lineup (Damn, Beas, Khash, Giannis, Brook) is trending up. The defensive numbers in particular are looking promising for this group. If they can ramp it up on offence it looks like it'll be one of the deadliest lineups in the NBA.
* We've got a lineup that can thrive without Giannis (Dame/Brolo led).

If it weren’t for Stotts shockingly leaving right before the season on bad terms Griffin would have more benefit of the doubt.

As it stands though it’s understandable where AG is under a microscope and I share the concern. That’s especially since it doesn’t take such a close look to see certain things out of whack.

Requiring a late game push and Dame Time to beat the Blazers and Wizards is better than losing, but teams that can execute down the stretch won’t let us get back into games so easily.

What’s going on with replacing Stotts as lead assistant?

Was this ever confirmed and it’s coming? Or are the Bucks waiting to make a decision for other reasons?

Should be running 3 at the 3pt line and Bobby Giannis or Brook at baseline near the lane. Bobby , Brook and Giannis should not be guarding people outside at all. Should help the rebounding as well. They also need to stop posing after taking a three and get back on D. Can not keep falling behind early in games and expect them to come back against good teams. Got to give them credit but that was ugly basketball for 2 1/2 quarters

Find a young team that’s interested in Marjon and move him for a better piece. Usually I’m not crazy about “win now” trades if it results in sacrificing talented youth but I’m starting to think Marjon is closer to being a scrub than any type of usable asset. Cash him in now and keep it moving. He’s not gonna be someone that we want getting minutes when it matters so don’t delay the inevitable.
