I keep telling you “with the 11th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft the Toronto Raptors select…” and believe it or not, it might actually be worse.

But without a blatant commitment to the tank ie/ all vets traded and top players rested, we’re not sniffing top 5 without a miracle fluke into the top 4.

Between those 3, CMB. Reminds me of a shorter version of Randle, but with better passing and defense. He really needs to work on his perimeter skills to transition to SF.

Rasheer looks like a role player with not much star upside

Noa looks like a scrub

CMB really far from having any perimeter skill. He maybe similar to RHJ, which is around late teens.

He does have some face up driving ability

Maybe a rich man’s RHJ. Comparatively, he’s more efficient, higher volume scorer, higher assist rate, higher rebound rate, more stocks.

Ability to improve is somewhat a roll of the dice as with every prospect

Still not very high on CMB due to his game relying on being physical, which may not translate to the NBA very well. Besides, with Thomas Sorber raising with some report he has 7'6 wingspan, which I would put him even above Maluach. I also have Queen ahead of CMB.

CMB and Asa Newell are both nice, but I am at the point where I am putting Noa Essengue ahead of them. Too much potential with his 6'10 size and skill at age 18. He is basically the same age as Cooper Flagg and he is playing well in a men's league.

Giannis-like size and growth potential
Excellent mobility and coordination
Can make quick swing passes in a number of spots
Can play off ball well and finish at a high clip
He may not be the next Giannis, but he might be the next Siakam - he is exactly the type of gamble Masai makes

I still think Maluach is destined for year two at Duke. No need to rush a big man as raw as he is.

In a deep draft like this you might find a star in 8-10 range. Noa is a little like Tidane Salaun or Bilal Coulibaly in that he will creep up draft boards in time. Euro kids come from great development systems and adapt well to the NBA in time.

I remember thinking Nikola Jovic would have been a great pick in the first if we had a pick and at age 21 he is playing well for Miami. I see him as a future starter on a good team and he was draft at the end of the first round.

I do get it that if we had a higher pick the more likely they will be contributors sooner, but usually any mid to late lottery means you have wait on the player to develop. Not everyone is plug and play. I do think CMB is the closest thing to an NBA rotation player day one, but maybe his ceiling is not as high.

I think Maluach will definitely enter the draft. This is life changing guaranteed money sitting for him in the lottery.

You undermine your credibility when you say 'Maluach is destined for year two at Duke.'

There's like a single digit chance that happens.

Well, it is a prediction I had since the beginning. He is a decent defender in college and could use another year to develop and adjust to the speed of the game. He also has to show more on the offensive end other than dunking the ball. He could shoot at BAL but he is pretty much just a big in the paint right now that is only good at finishing at the rim. The lack of passing is glaring.

I'd hope his camp prefers another year at Duke rather than playing in the G-League next year which isn't the best for developing bigs. I didn't sense he had a rush to make the pros, but maybe there are some family circumstances that I don't know about.

Personally I don't see his stock worsening in 2026. He could end up a top pick if he gets showcased whereas in this class he might slip to late lottery. He has been a little less than Derek Lively in his year at Duke and Lively went 12 in a similarly stacked class.

Here's a short video that gives you a bit of information of where he's coming from:

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c1dm2le39dno

He'd be risking a lot to stay in school, because draft stock is flakey to say the least. He's done enough to be drafted in the lottery and developing in the Gleague a little is not going to harm him.

If we end up dropping, I'd take a good luck at Derik Queen. Reminds me of Sengun a bit. kid is very skilled. Curious to how he ends up measuring at the combine.

Queen is down to #13 and Thomas Sorber is up to #21. I think Sorber should be drafted before Queen.

Sorber's blocks/foul is close to 1, while Queen is 0.5. Queen is 1 year older than Sorber. Queen has more offensive moves but his A/T is worse than Sorber.

Sorber could be like a bigger Antonio Davis will Queen could be like a doughy Demarcus Cousins.

Its a good little video about his journey. I may change my stance on his staying in school if he needs to help his family.

I do think it would be better for him long-term - see Zach Edey versus a guy like Alex Sarr who rushed to come out. Maluach is even younger than Sarr. Why not stay in school and get NIL money next year?

My worry with Maluach is that he knows so little about basketball. He learned to play basketball from videos only four years ago. He took several months to adjust to college and in the NBA he will face a bigger battle.

What is harsh is that he will be on lottery pick contract and with that comes expectations. Toronto would be a good fit, but he will need a longer runway than people think. I just don't want a Mo Bamba or Hasheem Thabeet situation where the prospect came out too early and wasn't supported well.

He should probably get the Chomche development plan and spend a lot of time in the GLeaugue or else he likely won't develop until he's like 27. Perhaps like Nik Richards finally playing well at 27 after being traded from Charlotte to Phoenix.

Considering our depth-y pickups have looked like they might produce at least 3 or 4 plausible good NBA bench guys (Agbaji, Dick, Walter, Shead, Mogbo, Chomche, Battle), I wonder if we get the 9th pick or something if we could use the Indy first, maybe one of Dick/Walter to move up into the 4 or 5 range.

Poeltl-2026TOR-Olynyk-Chomche
Barnes-Mogbo-PDX2nd
Barrett-Agbaji-Battle
2025TOR-Dick or Walter
Quickley-Mitchell-Shead

if you get Jakucionis or Edgecombe as the pick, you've got your starting 5, some young bench talent and next year's pick can be used to get a backup center of the present/starting center of the future.

Still have 4 playable wings and maybe the PDX 2nd is a wing too.

He is listed as 3 inches taller than Lofton and looks like he had long arms. He has some of the best post moves I've seen in college. 83% ft% shows shooting upside. High IQ player who can do a bit of everything offensively. Is he develops an outside shot and is avg on D he's a very good NBA player.

Return to Toronto Raptors
