Eh... Their methodology is, speaking politely, unscientific. I think Vucevic is a legitimate asset, but he isn't anywhere near the top 15 best values in the NBA relative to salary.

You cant really declare it "unscientific", claim Nik isnt anywhere near the top, and not give us YOUR methodology behind that comment.

Of course I can. It doesn't in any way actually factor in a player's efficiency into the process. They simply choose some arbitrary measures to remove players from the list. It's nothing more than clickbait. The best bargains in the NBA are largely players whose contracts are limited by the restriction on maximum salaries or rookie scale deals.

Or do you honestly believe that Vucevic is a better value on his contract than are LeBron, Paul, Davis, Durant, or Harden (and many others) on theirs?

We don't need a superstar... we have Vucevic on a $12 million per year contract!

See you gave you're reasoning/methodology. The season after he signed his contract, based on what other players were paid, Nik was considered good value. I dont think he's a better value than the stars mentioned because they make teams title contenders not to mention the revenue they generate through merchandise and winning titles but I understand the point of the article. Oh btw I've been driving the we need an elite player bus.

Vogel with comments:

“I think the biggest thing it depends on is the power forward position,” Vogel said Wednesday. “What’s your best power forward’s identity? If it’s LaMarcus Aldridge, you’re going to be a big, pound-it-in-the-post team. If it’s Aaron Gordon, you’re going to be an up-tempo, run-the-floor team. It depends mostly on that, I think. But this is how most of the league is playing right now. So if you’re going to try to play big, you’ve got to do it with basically an All-Star-level power forward or you’re going to struggle.”

And thankfully, mercifully, the Magic have finally given up on the season:

“Yeah, we’re trying to win, we’re trying to play,” Vucevic said. “But it’s not going to change much even if we win a lot until the end. If we win the four next games, a lot can change in the summer, anyway. I think it’s just trying to finish the season on a positive note.

“But I don’t think it’s going to help us build something for next season, really. Next season’s going to be a whole new year where we forget about this year.

Does this mean that Coach Vogel does or does not believe in Gordon at PF? I am perplexed.

I take this to mean if we keep AG we have to play a fast paced offense and we have to have a roster capable of doing that. If not, we need a different answer at PF. He's right though. The PF and PG positions define how a team plays.

I think it roughly translates to: "we were trading for Saric and then that got blown out, so now we're just confused and a total mess. "

I think it's just a rationalization on Vogel's part as to why things haven't gone according to plans this year. I don't really think his conclusion is necessarily valid. I hope he has learned something this year, because the roster is only going to change so much in the summer.

With the way Payton and AG have played since Ibaka trade, I'm pretty sure we are going to be a small ball/fast paced team next year. Problem is fast paced team aren't know to be the best defensive team. We have a whole in those wing positions. One of Ross or Fournier needs to go to the bench and we need a 3D SF. If we can't draft one, then I consider trading for one.

For the first time, I don't want to change this roster too much. We have like 4/5 starters on lock. Just need a SF, and some serious bench help.

My bad... I meant LaVar Ball is a narcissistic, sociopathic, racist.

"Realistically you can't win no championship with three white guys because the foot speed is too slow," Ball said, per Clay Fowler of the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin."

Could you imagine if a white person made a similar type of comment about black players? Wow what a bigot.

If the Magic decide to move on from Payton this summer what type of return do you think they could get? Do you think Payton could return a mid first round pick?

What an idiot. Why the hell would you say that? The guy is trying to manipulate Lonzos way to LA imo. He knows that these notorious and controversial statements are being monitored by GMs. I like Lonzo but his dumbazz did is making it hard to want him here. Doesn't matter; were not in Ball range anyways.

Eh... They probably have more European ancestry than African (the vast majority of African-Americans actually have a good deal of European ancestry), but this country comes from a deeply embedded race-based class system where "race" was defined by the one-drop rule. Thus, they technically aren't white if you abide by the classical definitions.

Personally, I find the conversation about race a bit silly when you consider how convoluted our ancestries and genetics are, but these classifications aren't going to disappear anytime soon as most individuals prefer to be classified into racial groups. We dislike being treated differently, but we seem to like being categorized. Categorization is the first step on the path to inequality.

I wonder where Vogel places Ibaka on the LMA<---->AG scale that he seems to have established.

I think Vogel is saying that if you want to play big, you need an All-Star PF and he is alluding that Ibaka is not that guy. That is all correct.

I have no idea what the Magic will do this summer. It is safe to say we will have a FO change and who knows what they think of our team. The Magic have a lot of assets like EP, Vuc, Fournier and AG they could flip if they wanted. They could build a completely differently team if they got aggressive enough. A new GM may not have much faith in EP or AG, but it is tough to argue with their improving play since Gordon has moved to the 4.
