I don't want Butler back even if we could get him for Valentine straight up. I don't want to invest a third of the upcoming salary cap in one player that has a lot of mileage and has shown diva tendencies. He might increase our win total by 10 games, just enough to put us in draft slot limbo. But he doesn't make us a contender. He's a good player. He isn't a unicorn. He doesn't make us better than Boston or Philly. His time here has come and gone. He belongs in L.A. The Clippers are the perfect destination for him.

What if Butler is Right? He is not the most talented Player or the most naturally gifted. He is dedicated and passionate. He wants to win.
What if Butler does not see the fire needed with KAT and Wiggins and he is smart enough to know it won't be KAT/Wiggins/Thibs going. What if our Younger (all that were here with him) are not into Winning and are sloppy?
Maybe it's not being a Diva, more a Player realizing he wastes his prime years around losing Players. What if you have the drive and will of Butler with Dunn and Lauri? We pay 20 Million to Parker...
If Pax can get Butler for Valentine and Felicio and just a bit more (knowing he signs the Extension) Butler would be here already. This package won't do it.

Keep in mind. All the teammates he called out in 2017 are either not on the Bulls or not in the league. And I haven't seen anything from Hoiberg that suggests he's even an average NBA head coach.

Maybe he was right then, and right now.

Then we are screwed

Deng Adel just got waived by the Raptors, and he looked great for them in preseason. Potential 2 way wing guy.

Also I would look in to Deyonta Davis, he's a FA right now. He was developing before he was cut, it'd be nice if we could part ways with one of our bigs and have Davis as a 4th/5th big at C.

I watched one of the Warriors' preseason games. He didn't get too many minutes, and in those minutes didn't really get anything noteworthy done - but man, he is small. Or normal size for a human being, but being surrounded by giants makes him look tiny.
From the basketball's perspective, travel is a nice pause from being pounded to the floor.

Portis' contract is expiring after this season though. Don't we need to sign him first to a good deal in order for him to have value?

I would do a trade with WCJ+1st+add some more value for Davis.

I started a similar thread where I proposed it would take a minimum of Lauri and our 2019 1st for AD. Maybe even a 2021 1st plus salary filler. We will not know anything until the trade deadline anyway.

Bulls won't give up Lauri and ad will leave anyway this is the best time to get value for him

I love Lauri. Interested in who would trade Lauri for Jaylen Brown and Rozier.

Bulls won't give up Lauri and ad will leave anyway this is the best time to get value for him

Also, the main draw of AD resigning with the bulls would be to play with Lauri, AD is best paired with a stretch big that can shoot from outside. The best pelicans lineups included Mirotic paired with AD, pels were winning more with miro rather than Cousins. If they would have to gut the roster to get AD, he wouldn't have much around him here, and be in not a much better spot than with the pels, therefore not a very attractive situation to resign.
