You're implying there is a happy medium that might play out over time. There isn't. He's either around for 1 season when you hope he isn't injured when you need him thereby destroying your team for the better part of a decade with no championship to show for it. And there is no divorce settlement per se, because the Celtics are left at the curb bare naked. Or he's around for many years because he signed an extension. It's a perfect win or lose situation. And personally I believe there are high odds of losing with a 1 year AD and a loss to GS in the finals, giving the C's and the fans zero championships.

I guess it comes down to being a glass is half empty or half full kind of mentality. i choose to see a rental as a championship. With winning a championship it becomes really hard to leave that for a garbage Lakers team.
Even if he wants to leave you can do a sign and trade and still get something and recoup some assets.

Screw AD. If he doesn’t say he wants to be a celtic this off season, then we shouldn’t trade for him at all. This is exactly what raptors fans have been saying, that if they went to the finals, kawhi would definitely stay. I think they are fooling themselves. Unless AD declares he would extend with us, its better to move on from him. Just imagine giving away Tatum and tons of assets to NO, then he bolts to LA. We would be the laughing stock of the league. LA would be so happy getting their player, whilst gutting us and leaving us irrelevant for the next decade. I know ainge won’t be that stupid.
Right..which is why regardless of what is said in the media, if Ainge does trade those skies for Anthony Davis, chances are he's staying

I'm not that confident with us most likely having to win on the road in Toronto and/or Milwaukee in the playoffs. Let's at least get the 3rd seed and then hope that Philly beat whoever finishes 1st so that we have homecourt in the ECF if we get there.

I see your points, but I am quite confident the Celtics will win the east.

Hopefully we start playing better on the road to build my confidence up. Still, last season we were great on the road in the RS and then struggled massively in the playoffs. So, it probably doesn't mean that much.

You think Kyrie stays if we get to the finals, even if we don't get AD?

I honestly got no idea on that. My premonitions reach a halt at "Celtics/Warriors finals".

I’ll be more confident if we get a legit shot blocker, possibly in the buy out market. DAJ would be perfect. Im sure simmons and embiid would eat us inside. Ibaka got every possible rebounds against horford the last time we played them. We need an inside presence that would make them at least think twice of attacking us inside.

I agree! Same thing happened with KG. The deal pushed through when ainge got asssurance from KG he would extend. I agree that if Ainge trades for AD, then he got assurance he would extend.

In the off season we can also request permission from the Pels to have a sit down/conversation with AD and convince him to come to Boston.

I feel like Memphis will trade us that pick for our future Grizz pick once it doesn't convey this year.

To believe the Laker's side of the story you have to believe they offered most of their so-called talent but decided to pull back in a trade for AD because parting with those second rounds would just be too damn painful.

With teams would stop with this tampering business and rise to the high standards Boston sets.

In my dream scenario it would be AD changing his mind, staying with Pels. Then Pels get moved to....SUPERSONICS...

The only team I’d root for besides Cs. SuperSonics made NBA that more exciting.

Memphis is gonna trade us a top 5 pick just to remove the possibility it might be a top 5 pick in two years?

And unless there's a player Danny really likes, why does he do that? For davis?

Why should New Orleans lose their team when LA has two teams?

Move the Lakers to Seattle.

I would do that. If it meant a lesser package for Davis.

If the pick comes in 4th-6th? I think there is a very strong possibility. Maybe even if 2nd or 3rd of we give them some sugar.

And yes, of course for AD.

They’ve said they would prefer to get the obligation out of the way - the question is whether we’ll let them.

Two consecutive lottery picks, good management and luck and they could be back in the playoffs in April 2021, or at least in the late lottery. Their best play is to tank. But we’ll see.

The 2020 draft is supposed to be better than this one, and 2021 better than that. He does it if that’s what New Orleans wants.
