I still believe that DRose’s legal battle played a big part to his decline, aside from his knee injury.

KAT and Thibs feels like a very bad duo…idk, this doesn’t really scare me. I don’t think an offensive minded 3pt shooting C is what the Knicks were missing. A dominant defensive C would have scared me a lot more in their lineup

I like it a lot for the Knicks. I don't think Randle was a good fit. The Knicks shooting is going to be deadly and Brunson is going to feast because of it.

Their big problem will obviously be rim protection. And I don't think Donte is an insignificant loss by any stretch.

Much different team than last year, but if they gel they'll be real tough to beat.

With all due respect... You're crazy.
Julius Randall is and has been, since he was at Kentucky, one of the biggest wastes of time in Basketball. The Knicks would win if they got nothing back, let alone Karl Towns.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

The Knicks needed a center so i guess this is a great trade from that perspective, but I just don't see this as a great needle mover.

Teams are gonna put Brunson and KAT in PnR action non stop. KAT taking so many 3s also diminish some of the issues we had against the knicks on the rebounding side, which is still our biggest issue.

I just don't understand why Minny did this

The Knicks already have a dominant defensive rim protecting C in Mitchell Robinson. Even though Robinson has had injury issues adding another starting defensive center to their roster would have been redundant strategically & tactically.

Adding KAT, who I have issues with, makes NY far more versatile. They can space you out with a small ball lineup of Towns at the 5 and Anunoby at the 4, Bridges at 3 and Hart at the 2. Or Tibs can go big defensively with Robinson at the 5, Kat at 4, Anunoby at the 3 and Bridges at the 2.

Don't know if it works but NY can matchup defensively with anyone.

I dont understand it for both teams. Randle and Gobert’s spacing is also bad

I don't think it changes their title further, but I think it makes Knicks slightly better due to Kat having go to offensive abilities and clearly being able to be a star off the ball in 2 ways... As a shooter and roller. I think their primary unit suffers a slight but defensively (though Kat can defend as seen in that amazing defensive game vs Denver without Rudy playing). I do it if I'm them.

Makes wolves cheaper, I guess and fact is they have 2 other centers that won awards for their play just a few months ago in DPOY AND 6 MAN. Naz Reid has more to give and is similar to Kat. Randle is fine there too, but has more questions marks due to Randle and his shooting. I like his playmaking the wolves though

KAT goes full doo doo head come playoffs HOWEVER in theory he does help the Knicks if only as a spacer. You can't have a big in the paint against their best lineups as everyone is a threat from deep and also capable of dribbling enough to get to the rim on any close out. Towns is a doofus but is capable of occasionally holding his own on defense (when not committing the dumbest fouls you ever seen) and the rest are above average on defense (sans maybe Brunson).

Makes their team a lot more balanced overall and Randle, who while is a tough mofo, has his own playoff demons himself. Donte's shooting is a bigger loss but unlike us other teams seem to find shooters easy so lol.

I'll save my hot takes about us when the season starts but yeah the Knicks fixed some of their issues with this and SHOULD be better...KATs personality and mindset are things I can only judge so much from afar.

Knicks have made some solid moves this summer but I don't think they've done enough to overtake the Sixers.

It looks like the Knicks want to create flexibility in their lineup, with the ability to play big by pairing Mitchell Robinson and KAT, and also play small with OG and KAT on the floor.

Jo owns KAT. Bad move for the Knicks from that perspective. Would have been better off trading for Horford or Marc Gasol.

Also, I feel like trading Divincenzo is a huge favor to us. He was probably going to shoot 80% from 3 against us this season.

I'm honestly surprised anyone thinks this is anything but a great deal for the Knicks.

I get he's got his issues, but KAT's just such a major talent and fit upgrade over Randle. I think he's weapon that can really elevate that offense. Bridges and OG are really good players, but clearly not #2 offensive option types.

In terms of how it impacts us? I'd say they being able to go 5 out could certainly be an issue for us defensively. And while we've seen Embiid cook KAT, they've got the wing defenders to double at an elite level. Or they can put OG on him and have KAT play the Porzingis role. Or they can go big and throw Robinson on him if they want to play straight up.

Mostly I just think Jalen Brunson that much tougher to stop.

So much coping here lol. The Knicks just got so much better. You can’t overlook the range KAT brings to the table, even if you’re not his biggest fan.

Brunson/McBride
Bridges/Shamet
Hart/Bridges
Anunoby/Achiuwa
Towns/Robinson

Everyone can shoot and defend to various degrees. I understand Joel owns KAT, but them having KAT closes the gap a ton there. That in conjunction with them being vastly superior 2-4 means they’ll be a problem.

Morey has to really hit on the next move to keep up.

This works perfectly for the Knicks. Towns can add to their regular season wins while Mitchell Robinson rehabs, and then they can share minutes when it gets more defense-heavy in the playoffs. Assuming Robinson actually gets healthy, which is a big if.

I predict Ant Edwards asks for a trade by the end of the season.
