Cedi Osman is on my wish list for the Celtics. Can never have enough wings.

Back in 2011 Ainge traded Perk for Jeff Green.
The Cs got the better player in Jeff Green, but it upset the guys in the locker room.
Perk’s impact on the guys is more akin to Al than the other bench players, let’s be real.
Still, i almost agree with not doing too much for anyone at this time because of chemistry, but I really would do a lot for Caruso only. He is great for chemistry IMO, he’d be another leader for the bench, he is the spit we could use on the bench!
Id try and do it without any of the top 8 and Walsh though. Just give the picks up is what i really want!

He makes just a little bit too much $ to fit in the Grant TPE, no?
So we'd have to give up Pritchard to get him, right? I don't really see that happening.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Seems like a buyout guy to me. Rather Burks though for me.

They might not need him but if they can get him, I'm not sure why they would pass. He's like Derrick White with less offensive juice. Who wouldn't want that guy on their team ?
The cost would be too high.
Caruso is in demand right now.

Hard to pull off a trade for Caruso if you don't involve any of the top 8 and Walsh.
That would mean the Cs giving up Kornet, Banton, Brissett, and Svi to make salaries match.
It would make sense if you trade PP and other pieces because Caruso will take PP's 8th spot in the rotation.
Can't have both PP and Caruso as it will only result in PP returning to being that 4th guard in the rotation, just like last season.

Why exactly? He doesn’t get minutes over Hauser. Do we like him better than Brissett. I don’t recall him being much of a defender. I’d rather give Walsh any minutes we might give to a deep bench wing.

I'm all for adding talent without trading anybody in the top 8 now.
I still really like Drummond as the third big. Big, tough, great rebounder. He's on a small expiring and wouldn't mind sending the Bull's '24 SRP back to them for him. A scoring guard/wing (not sure who) who can attack the paint and get a bucket when the 3s aren't falling for PP/Hauser is appealing to me.

Save Alec Burks! Pistons 2-25 and dude is hardly playing. He'd be a great vet add for a contender like Boston.
He's doing good work for the community. Pistons, do the right thing and free Alec!

With the mini-emergence of Queta I'm less interested in someone like Drummond. I would like to see Queta converted to a full NBA deal, however. IMHO he's a keeper. He rebounds, sets good picks and isn't afraid to commit a hard foul.
As for the rest, I can't see anyone out there within the Celtics' price range who is significantly better than Hauser, Pritchard or even Lamar Jackson. I'm not interested in "saving" someone like Alec Burks, who is not shooting the 3 ball nearly as well as the rest of the Celtics bench.

We're not saving Burks. He can help the bench. Career 38% shooter (4 previous stops at 40%+) who can makes plays off the bounce. He didn't suddenly forget how to shoot. It's more likely the **** situation he's in right now that's causing the poor season. He will get mostly open threes in Boston.
If bought out, he should be a primary target.

He's not a good defender. Not enough to get minutes anyway. They already have snipers in Hauser and Pritchard.

This wasn't too long ago. Burks was reliable when he was with the Knicks.
He's a good defender on a crappy team. I don't think he'll do much worse than Hauser. Plus he has a midrange game, which most of our shooters don't have. Only 32 years old. Right age for a veteran to be brought into a contending team if he's healthy.

Depends on the price. If it's low enough, fine. But I'd still rather add more beef.

Queta has the beef, go with Caruso, think Beyond Meat!
Yes Fierce, I’d be fine with Pritchard for Caruso. I think Pritch has really found his way, really like him, but I still think there’s levels to this and I think Caruso is that. I saw Caruso do it in the playoffs, I’m not sure Pritch could if either of jrue or white go down for a couple games or series.

Yeah, Caruso is way better than PP, but I don't know if the Celtic front office is willing to gamble on disrupting team chemistry at this point.

I’m oddly good with the guys we have. Most of the names I see don’t seem like they would help that much. I think as fans we can get that “grass is greener on the other side” thing going. But our grass is really “use a more appropriate word” ing green.

Re: Trade/Free Agency Thread 2023-24, part 12 is my favorite thread. Out of a dozen...
Personally, I do not think we need to dive into the deep end of the trade market and make major changes. That is what the off season if for. We can make some changes now, but they have to be on the small end and very specific.
I would make our top 8 ALMOST untouchable unless bringing back a HUGE overpay by the other team. That means (1-8) Porzingis, Tatum, Brown, Holiday, White, Horford, Hauser and Pritchard very safe. (I'm also giving Tatum, White and Holiday extensions this offseason for whatever it takes to keep them.
I sign (9) Queta to a reg contract now, so he is available to work with the team daily, and for the playoffs, in whatever form that looks like, albeit one year now and four years this off season, or a longer contract now if possible.
Just because I would sign Queta, does not mean I would move (10) Kornet. There is room for both. I would feel much better about our big rotation with Porzingis, Horford, Kornet and Queta, along with Tatum playing most of the minutes at the four spot.
(11) Brissett is already signed with a player option next season, and he will exercise it.
(12) Walsh has a bright future with the Celtics and would be shocked if he were moved.
(13) I also keep Stevens around. I feel he is much better than he has shown, and that will come out in the second half of the season.
That leaves Banton and Svi, out 6.2 mil trade exception, and our first-round pick and / or a second-round pick or two, to use in a trade. Banton just can't shoot and SVI, even though I was very high on his signing, has been a disappointment. That's 4.3 mil of tradable salary, our 6.2 mil trade exception and picks to bring back someone. Theoretically, we could trade Banton, Svi and a 1st for someone, then trade a couple seconds for someone using our trade exception. This is the kind of move I would be looking for, or something similar using some combo of these assists. Just my thoughts, anyway.

I just don't think it's worth it to make a significant change for a slight upgrade.
1 on 1, yes, Caruso is way better than PP, but Caruso is not going to play in the last 5 minutes of the 4th in a playoff game.
Maybe in the regular season Caruso can get around 20 minutes per game with the Cs.
But in the playoffs, with White and Jrue, Caruso will at most get 12-15 per game.
Other than fit and playing time, Caruso will have a high cost as a lot of teams are also interested in getting him.
IMO, Cs better off getting another veteran big man.
