Last thing we need is a disgruntled star creating drama and locker room tension. This unit has been really gelling last couple of seasons and they don't need that noise right now.

Nah. This is a concern for people who are outside Minnesota, don't pay attention to KAT closely, and want to smack the "soft" label on him and call it a day.

You're talking about a 19 year old kid from Jersey who became a multimillionaire number 1 overal draftpick overnight when he moved to Minnesota, a city that is clowned in professional sports conversations at every turn (Twins, Vikings, Wolves), especially by New Yorkers. He has spent nearly a decade growing up there, being their star there, taking the team from ridicule to the brink of the NBA Finals. He has always worked heavily in the Minnesota community, and when he lost 8 family members to COVID in 2021, including his mother, that was the community that supported him. When you become a professional in a high profile position as a teenager, and your star turn happens in a smaller, often maligned city over the course of a decade, you develop a bond there (if you have any heart at all). Apropos of nothing, I 'd guess that KAT has stronger ties to his team's community and identity than almost any other player in the league.

Look at Minnesota fans reaction to this - they're largely devastated because of WHO he is, not just how he plays basketball. Now imagine the other side of it in Towns, where he was literally a kid when he started there and has spent his entire adult life working in and connecting with that community. It's a pretty unique/special situation.

Very soon we'll here from him and he'll tell the truth - it's devastating to leave the place that raised him and supported him through some of the greatest highs and the unquestionable worst lows of his life. But if there's any place he'd rather be it's at home with his childhood favorite Knicks, playing for a man he considers family in Leon Rose. And away we'll go.

8 family members? I can't even begin to understand how hard that was for him.

And he guarded KD only in game one. KD had 31 on 11/17 shooting and they took KAT off as the primary defender.

On top of all of that he's not a PF for us he's a C. KAT at C was the worst defensive player in the league for almost a decade. It's easier to hide him with Gobert and Reid behind him but now he's the backbone of our defense.

There's a reason Minny felt safe moving him, and it's because quite frankly if he wasn't on the roster they go to the Finals.

Nah man. The only reason the Wolves didn't run it back after one of their most successful season in their history is the CBA and it's affect on the Wolves keeping Naz Reid and Jaden McDaniels, nothing else. The Wolves had the #1 defense in the league and crushed their division. While I'm not 100% with it andwaiting to see what the team looks like, let's not act like KAT didn't contribute to the Wolves success.

You realize we play under that same CBA right?

No one is saying he's not a good player. I'm saying he's on one of the worst contracts in the league, so he's not worth keeping rostered. You just confirmed that, the Wolves dropped him because under the CBA his contract is **** awful and nobody other than his agent would ever trade for it.

You're right, both the Wolves and Knicks do play under the same CBA. That same CBA cost the Knicks' team their young starting center in Hartenstein. Wolves didn't want to hit the top tax apron and not be able to keep Jaden McDaniel AND Naz Reid, ala the Knicks.

That's why the Wolves said signed off. That and that the Knicks would let Donte go to them (although the thought of playing next to Antman and get more minutes than here with Mikal at the 2. Easy peazy for the Wolves.

This development staff has been great. What the task is with the coaching staff is to elevate KAT's enthusiasm for defense. He can take anyone on offense and Rose and have added leaders that play together on the team. IF, the staff can round out KAT's game, and follow Brunson's lead, it's going to be problems for the East.

Increase KAT's thirst for rebounds and defensive presence and KAT is an all-star 5 in the East. Better than both BAM and KP overall.

We get to the FInals and I'll chip in $100 toward's KAT's contract, if that makes you feel better.

I don’t hate Tim Bontempts like a lot of people online do but it’s kinda crazy they kept him over Zach Lowe is kinda crazy. Like let Windy speak and stop cutting him off.

The current cap seems to only benefit:

1) Small market clubs that don't wanna spend

2) upper and middle tier players

Any club that wants to invest healthily in their product and the NBA fringe gets screwed

Although, in all honesty, I've already killed any trade by watching his highlights, as Knicks never get any player who I watch highlights of.

Except Brunson.

Oh, and OG.

It's a big benefit to teams with young stars, like you can already see it with the Magic and how they have more depth because Paolo is going to be on his rookie deal for 2 more years. The extension for Franz doesn't kick in till next year.

If the Spurs fail to put a contender around Victor in the next 3 years they have nobody to blame but themselves.

Could the delay be us trying to sneak Nick Richards into the deal?

Bontemps carries on like his hemorrhoids are flaring up. He’s wrong about the Knicks at every turn, but he can’t stop running his mouth.

He had Philly beating us last year. He picks against the Knicks at every turn and I think he’s trying to justify his pessimism at this point

he didn't really explain it as far as the aprons. he just said as a matter of a fact. so maybe he didn't consider the 2nd apron implications ? but considering that kind of thing is mainly what he does, so ?

He looked and sounded really upset at the top of the episode. This trade must have really hurt his feeling for some reason. Thought he was almost on the verge of tears  he rallied after the opening monologue.

the scariest aspect of this whole thing is a seemingly united front of sham and melo.

it's like menthol flavored oreos or some shyt.
