what are some bad contracts teams need to unload?

I can think of Noah, Deng, Ryan Anderson...who else?

what picks/assets can we get for being the NBA's dumpster?

I think it would be more likely that it's a team that is desperate to sign someone this off season like perhaps Minny or Boston needing to move salary. I don't think we'd take a huge long term contract dump...there is not enough of an asset you can get to make it worth it to further clog our capspace for years. Few teams would give up something like the Lakers did in Russell to move the Mozgov contract. I don't even know that NY is that desperate to sign someone.

Perhaps Minny or Boston needs to move Dieng or Smart and we could just absorb..we wouldn't get an asset attached and would have to send out a pick in that case...like a 2nd rounder. If we could get rid of Chandler and want to let Len walk, Dieng would be worth his salary...he is pretty good defensively, can block shots, rebound, and hit 3s.

But it makes more sense for the Hawks to just take back Dieng in a S&T.

Exactly! Its going to be from a team thats looking to sign a big name FA (which there arnt too many left).

Please go trade for Noah! Knicks needs to keep Porzingis, Hernangomez, Ntilikina, and their first rounders. Outside of that, just take our other good contracts (O'Quinn, Lee, Kuzminskas) and give us that damn Brandon Knight!

What does Cleveland dumping Shumpert even do for them? They are still over the cap, I don't see how that benefits them.

Reports are saying the price is a pick without taking any salary back, creating a TPE. That would give them a hell of a lot more flexibility in trades, because Shumpert is hardly an asset in every teams eyes. And they really need to make a more for some player that upgrades them. No fun in being beaten every year in the finals.

But how does a team over the cap just take on salary - seems like a way to circumnavigate the cap. But oh well - doesn't affect the Suns

I can't see how the Rockets would be able to do it, like the reports are telling us. They can't create a TPE and going over the cap at the same time. They need to shed 10 million of salary first. As long as a team is under the cap though, any team automatically creates a TPE for the other team if they trade for a player, like Shumpert, without taking salary back.

At least it's a reminder. Everytime you get annoyed by having Knight and Chandler on your roster. Just tell yourself "It could be worse. We could be as disfunctional as the Knicks and hand out 18 million a year to Joakim freakin Noah!"

If the Rockets really want to dump some salary, i'd take Ryno off their hands.....at the price of Capela.

Anderson/Capela for Chandler.

That would give them a replacement defensive starting C, AND save them over $10M next season.

The problem is the Knicks do not have many assets to trade. Noah has three years left on his deal. Knight has three but about 3m less per year. Chandler is done in 2019 - so two years

Knight is owed 44m; Chandler is owed 26 - so that's 70m; Noah is owed 51m - so maybe if the Suns want to save cash over three years, they do Chandler, Knight for Noah and say Derrick Rose in an S&T where Rose gets enough money the first year to make the math work but years 2 and 3 are not guaranteed. By my math that's about 6m for Rose in year 1 - but what asset are the Suns getting besides cash savings.

Yeah. The problem is that we only have around 16 million in cap space right now. We need more cap space to sign the Rose who last year thought, that he made the Knicks "the new SUPER team of the NBA". Clearly the dude needs 4 years, 100 million. Maybe we should just hand over Lee's good contract and our first next year, so we can re-sign Rose to 27 a year
