Game 4 the PF/C pick-and-roll was killing Miami, Bucks go away from that to run plays for Jrue then Khris who bricked shots and turned it over. Game 5 Gianni has one of his worst FT nights (despite playing well from the floor) with Jrue getting absolutely brutalized by Butler and refusing to switch off. If the Bucks were literally merely "adequate" in both 4th quarters, they likely advance.

Finding great joy with the big-big pnr for a quarter and then never doing it again was peak Bud era Bucks.

Say what you want about having very little organisation on the scoring side but spending every postseason having to scramble after game one or two into switching that hadn't been practiced was certainly a thing we went through a bit.

Cherry on the top for me was when we went into that 1/2/2 or whatever it was we did in a fever dream or whatever happened early in the last series. Bud was an ill prepared panic merchant despite his many other positive qualities.

100% It’s not even that everyone was specifically game planning it since 2019. More that there has been a fundamental change in the roster makeup of teams in the past 10+ years since Bud debuted this scheme. The plan “We’re going to make role players beat us with above the break threes” was probably a great strategy in 2012 or something. In the meantime, nearly every role player in the NBA has become a guy who hits open above the break threes at a rate approaching 40%.

It’s just refusing to identify/adapt to a fundamental new reality in basketball at large. Beyond dumb.
