I voted for Kobe. I still think he's ahead of Gordon right now. Could change next season.

Some teams might not pay more for Kobe over Gordon...but they would expect to if they asked. Kobe's value is still higher to me.

James Harden is going to be leaps and bounds better then Eric Gordon in a couple years and I say that liking Gordon quite a bit.

old rem wrote:Funny that Kobe lists so high when he's in his mid 30's now, has started losing a step, and has a balloon payment deal that now is the fattest in the NBA but then escalates another $6 mill as he ages.
Add it up. Someone has to ship out $24 mill in contracts and be fine with the $ escalating but meanwhile, Kobe's prime years are used up. LAL backloaded the deal, skimmed the cream, and now someone would be getting a declining Kobe at more $ than what his best years cost. Trade value? Few teams could or would deal for him and as the biggest $$$ hit in the NBA the salary/age factor is such that maybe 3-4 teams have some interest but are not about to spend a lot of youth, multiple starters or good picks that can have years of value.
Try to think up a win now team that could and would package $24 mill in assets. Consider that the next CBA may make it hard to accomodate a payroll of $80 mill +. Dallas might manage to bundle 3-4 of their most costly assets aside from Dirk, but then they are a 2 man team a short window.
Hard to see a deal the Spurs, Knicks, Heat or Bulls could or would do. Few others can lose assets and have any shot at a Championship run. Celtics? Could deal some of their aged stars but...like Kobe, the "value" on Allen, KG, aint what it was.
While all true, Kobe has the unique factor of being Kobe. Until he retires, Kobe will have more than enough marketing power to justify his salary (and more).

Yeah Kobe has little or no trade value left IMO. Someone like Gordon, DeRozan, Harden or George has much more value because they play well, are young, but most importantly, are still on a rookie contract

Plus, I think he has a no trade clause so in a way he has no value.

Harden. If Gordon makes 2nd, Harden should be the next.

Well said. I'm one of the cheapest guys on the trade board, and no fan of Kobe personally, but he is so much more a superstar than any of these other options, that I think his revenue streams (and the increased chances of revenues from a ring) justify his salary. Guys like Kobe and LeBron simply can't be compensated enough for their value to a team.

Nah
Gordon is better than Harden, offensively and defensively. And that won't change in the future.

Addition of Kobe to a team with the the right pieces could mean an immediate championship(s) for a couple of years.
For the first time in my life I realized that I was truly happy.......then I remembered I was drunk.

I'm not so sure about that.
Gordon has had his chances on bad team, produced yes, but the team hasn't and he's sustained injuries.
Harden meanwhile was being groomed slowly on a contender and started to show what he's capable of in the playoffs.
I'd gladly take either one going forward, and I think any perceived gap should shrink over time.

Wow, there's more than 1-3 teams who would give up more for Eric Gordon than Kobe? I highly doubt it.

James Harden for #3 for me, has ton of potential and is on a post CBA friendly deal which you can manage.
Kobe's deal/contract really kills his value imho he's still a elite player but if I am rebuilding a team I would prefer Harden who I can get 10-15 (or more) years out of right now

Hmmm ... that leaves me with a question for the class:
Has anyone ever seen any estimates on how much extra revenue winning a championship brings to a franchise? I mean, there are all the extra okay-off games, extra merchandising, rise in team popularity and interest, etc?
Anyone ever seen a number for this? I know I haven't.

Kobe doesn't have trade value because his per year contract is huge. Not big, but enormous. If you trade him, you are limited in what you can get, and you will gut the team which takes him. Kobe also can say no if I'm not mistaken.
Kobe is worth the most (more than Wade), but that is a different subject.
Harden is a good choice.

Trade value includes how much a player is "worth." And it doesn't matter if Kobe can say no, it's not like teams will offer less just because he can say no, nor will they increase their offers because he can say no.

Kobe at #3?
Seriously? He's not the player he once was, injuries and stacking up, he's getting older, and his salary is huge.
Someone is seriously wrong about him. Might be me. Might be you. Might just be that the SG field is crap. But, I don't think Kobe should be in the top 5.

How can a bench player like Harden have more value than Monta Ellis? SMH
The 4th guy is easily Monta.
