Scola would be a nice PF with Howard, but I doubt the Lakers part ways with Gasol and Bynum

Ah ...no....he...wouldn't! You are the second person to say that. Glen Davis can play back up Center. And if I was the Lakers I would ask for Ryan Anderson but they would probaly prefer to give up Turk.
And Ryan could come off the bench.

Glen Davis could actually work in L.A. as well. You quibble about non essentials. Who cares?

But no Scola wouldn't work with Howard and Kobe imo. Scola needs the ball and would work with Bynum but not Howard. With Howard he would be in the way like he was with Yao Ming.

Scola would not fit. Kobe would have to adjust his game if they got Howard. Drastically....you need bigs who can pass and hit shots and stretch the floor.

It would also be a good deal for the Magic. Actually an excellent deal for the Magic.

could the Lakers sign any decent free agent if they got rid of Gasol's toxic contract and Bynum?

YES.....THEY CAN.

And they would. Any player would go there to play with Howard and Kobe...

ANY...PLAYER.

In fact, a few names that come to mind off the top of my head who are going to be unrestricted free agents:

I bet Jeff Green would. I bet Rashard Lewis would. I bet Nick Young would too! So would J.R. Smith or Josh Childress. So would Wilson Chandler.

No.

You 'NEED'....Ron Artest. I would get him focused and keep him. He is one of those guys like Dennis Rodman who you need come playoff time to guard Durant and use some fouls...and hit some big shots.

Yes he is a dope...but he is a useful dope. The first order of business is to improve that weak ass backcourt of your's...darn it's ugly.

If we are sending Gasol away, we better be getting Scola+Lowry back.

What!? With Howard you don't need Scola!

What are you talking about!?

You don't need him with Kobe and Howard. You are fine with McRoberts and a stretch 4. Lamar Odom would have been the perfect guy to keep in that scenario but they moved him.

But no you don't need Scola. Scola can't guard Blake Griffin! That is the perfect deal right there... McRoberts and Metta World Peace are just fine.

If I were the Lakers I would ask for Ryan Anderson in return but they will give Hedo Turkgolu to the Lakers instead. That is enough...

McRoberts is a stretch four?

McRoberts is a bench player that has great energy and hustles. He's not a quality starting PF and definitely not on a championship team.

It's only a matter of time till the Lakers trade Bynum and Gasol for Howard. It's inevitable.

And no, the Magic aren't sending Anderson along with Dwight.

Yes, they are. It's going to happen. Why are you complaining? You're getting the arguably best and most valuable player in the league.

There's a more likelihood of Dwight resigning with the magic than lakers sending bynum and gasol.

Orl doesnt have that kind of leverage, LA doesn't either but they're not deserpate enough right NOW to do this, sending both Pau/Bynum just for Howard/Hedo makes this team worse.

Yeah, but you could like, do it as a favor to Orlando. Wahhh, come on, give us Bynum and Gasol, wahhh.

Honestly, the only reason I'd take Howard over Bynum is because he's far less injury prone. When you factor in that Bynum can score and defend the post, it's apparent that he's just a better all-around player. You can't feed DH the rock in the 4th and expect him to win the game. And Kobe for all his big scoring is much older... And he wouldn't be able to handle the offensive load if Gasol AND Bynum, 2 superior post scorers, were replaced with Howard. They'll only go for Howard if just 1 of the bigs goes.

Dwight is worlds better than Bynum as a defender. They're probably near equals as man defenders, and even as offensive players, but Dwight's help defense really changes games.

I have to agree here, Dwight speed would be a big upgrade over Bynum when defending PnR. This league has becoming PnR heavy league now and Bynum either doesn't know how to defend it or is just to slow, Nash is a great PG to begin with but he isn't a speed guy either and he still got to where ever he wanted last nite when running PnR with Gorat or Frye
