a very sensible comment Sunskerr. Even with Nash staying on, it is not unlikely we will be presented options concerning theG.

Yeah, I think at this point no one is really untouchable for the right deal. The FO definitely has their work cut out this offseason. They need to make a decision early - do we rebuild, or do we make a push for Nash. We can't go into this without a clear cut plan.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
I think Dudley should be the only untouchable on this team. We need a locker room guy who can keep the team together to avoid a desaster like in Sacaramento or Washington. Add Morris to this list, too since we should not trade young pieces at this point exspecially because we won't get a better player for him.
Hill on Nash going to the Lakers: “That’s like transferring from Duke and going to Carolina.”

I think we might have to initiate both strategies on the fly! As it's only prudent to assume that nash won't be coming back, Yet while preparing for a rebuild, we also need to exhaust all tangible options openly this time so that nash IF he likes what he's hearing from the front office can possibly reach a mutual agreement.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
Am not saying Gortat is untouchable, but I don't want to give up a proven piece for door number three. As far as the Hickson deal, isn't he a FA? If so, wouldn't they have to sign, and then trade him? Again, if so, we have to love whoever they pick, because we can't discuss a trade that contains a FA before the FA period, or we/them could violate the tampering clause.
I have been following this team for a long time, and understand how hard it has been for us to get a decent center. Now we have one, and people want to ship him out for guys that haven't even played an NBA game, just because they are young?

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
Quick clarification: I'm not endorsing a trade involving Gortat for a pick or two, or some unproven player. I would definitely consider a trade for a young, quality player. There may be a team out there, who is in desperate need of a quality center, who would be willing to part ways with such a player. I haven't thought about the logistics of who/what, but if the scenario were to arise I would jump on it.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
If the Suns FO wants to keep Nash, there is no way they are trading Gortat for a draft pick, unless it is attached to another player they can't pass up. If it looks like the FO is just going the draft route, I don't see Nash wanting to stay.
Tons of questions should be answered in the next few months.

Hickson is a restricted free agent with a 3.4 mil qualifying offer.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
I think Hickson should be the Pf we go after in free agency. I thik they will be reluctant to match an offer for him seeing as he will be a bench guy behind Aldridge. Since we would have had the money to go after 2 max freeagents and the wanted ones are gone, 3 mid rangers who are young and have upside would be good. Dragic, Hickson, T Williams, keep Gortat for now, unless we get an offer we cant refuse.

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
question for all you.
Do you really think Hickson and T-Will are the players that helps us keep nash?
they are at avg bench players in the league nothing greater
also when nash and hill leaves and it is just gortat
do you really think he can consistently perform at his level he is at?
we would have the worst team in the league and hopefully tank for shabazz or nerlens but it would be a rough year

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
No, I think Nash is gone reguardless. I think Hickson and Williams are young talented players we should take chances on. We cant expect to just take a superstar from someone, sometimes they require developing. Hickson looked like a stud early in his career, and then went through a lull, and ended the year with Portland looking like the spark is back (I would take a chance on his developement, say in the 6 mil range). Williams also showed lots of promise early on, being called or compared to a young Jason Richardson, and fell out of favor after getting traded. With Williams talent and upside, again I would hope a system and coaching change gets him back on track (possibly in the 3-4.5 range per). Dont know if those offers get it done, but if so they would be worth seeing if they deveolpe further. Is there a better free-agent Pf than Hickson?

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
draft picks i would take over hickson in lower half of draft
- Arnett Moultrie
- Perry Jones
- Jared Sullinger (could not be that great but risk could be a good rebounding PF and has a good low post game leaving our shooters open)
Free agents I would take over hickson
- Beasley
- Humphries
-Elton Brand
- Jason Thompson
-Jordan Hill (if given the right playing time and style of play he could be good)
- Ilyasova
- Speights

Re: Official Trade Thread: Part 3
Beasly is gonna be expensive and he is a tweener. Brand is 40, Thompson is gonna get matched by the Kings. Ilysova I would take but we would be extreemly lucky to get. Hickson is better than Humphries Hill and Speights in my opinion, and still young.

i would take a SF or SG in this years draft
if we can get MAYO or Gordon in free agency we get a SF
if we cannot get a SG and one is available we draft one!

First, this is a trade thread and second, why do we need another SF? We already have Hill, Dudley and Childress and even if Grant leaves it would be enough.

I agree completely that drafting a Sg. is ideal! would leave us the money to sign possibly 3 free-agents. We would then need a Pg. and Pf (Dragic/Hickson), Williams can play 2 or 3 and guard 1-3, would be useful if could be had for a reasonable price.

I thought we were possibly gonna lose Hill, Brown, and Redd not to mention Prie as a third guard. We need someone to take one of those spots.
