Re: ESPN: Deng Believes Bulls May Trade Him
I'm just glad that all this speculation is happening while the Bulls aren't playing games. I'm sure Deng has matured a lot, but back when he was last heavily involved in trade rumors at the Feb deadline, it seemed to affect his game.
The only player on this Bulls' team who should be told that he's definitely not being traded is Rose. Everything else should depend on the circumstances. This said, I value Deng more than most here, so if he gets traded, that trade better be very, very good.

That's why teams like to trade on Draft Day.

Boogy. Thanks for all your news and updates. If that one move alone keeps us under the tax, that's probably the move garpax will try to make...if its on the table.

I really hope we don't lose Noah.
I don't think we can play Asik and Boozer together.

Now, offensively, ummm... yeah.
Well, I think you're undervaluing how much Deng makes him work, on both end of the courts and also putting a bit too much stock in a still unproven prospect. I like how Butler fits in the mix and love the idea of throwing him at James for stretches. There's little chance he's ready to carry the whole load, though.

#7, #30, #35, #52 + Biedrins
Biedrins expires in the Summer of 2014 like Deng. Maybe Biedrins could be bought out as well.
Basically if we acquire Biedrins for Deng, we'd be under the tax this year if we cut Watson, Korver, and Brewer.
They'd surely use those extra picks to move up a bit with their 2nd pick I would assume then. No way they draft 4 rookies. Maybe at 7 you get someone like Lamb or Waiters, and use those 3 other picks to move up a couple of spots to like 25 or something to get someone else.

One thing, that hasn't been discussed in the pros and cons is exactly who is supposed to guard LeBron if Deng is gone. There are few guys around the league who can got rode by LBJ for 40 minutes, hang on and still put up 15+ PPG, and none of them are easy to acquire.
Who's gonna guard lebron? No one including deng, which is why lebron scores like 30pts a game whenever he plays the bulls.

If we cut Watson korver brewer though we'd probably need those picks for bodies off the bench, right?

Breakdown of Roster Salary with Biedrins instead of Deng
Boozer $15M
Rose $15.5M
Noah $11.3M
#7 $2.5M
Asik $3.5M
Gibson $2.2M
Butler $1.1M
#29 $1.0M
Rip $5M
Biedrins $10M
Total: $66.1M across 10 Players
It also opens the door up for trading Asik or buying out Biedrins for additional cap relief which could be enough for the Full Mid Level Exception.

They both suck and both will eventually be of this team. I can't wait until the bulls trade deng and amnesty boozer. I can't wait for the rose, noah, mirotic bulls of 2015!

I wish the Bulls had a real owner.
Just amnesty the scrub instead of trading away our best players for garbage.

Another option is the Warriors send Biedrins to a third team for something back. Maybe Golden State sends a Future Pick + Biedrins for a contract back to the Bulls.

Why the hell would the Bulls want Biedrins if they're trying to save money? Bulls would be better off trading for Richard Jefferson, who they could actually use as a starting SF, in the event of a Golden State trade.

Nothing has happened yet and we don't know the trade. Golden State could be finding a 3 team trade. What if they offered the Bulls:
#7, #30, #35, #52 + Good player back --> Chicago
Deng --> Warriors
Biedrins + GS Future Pick --> Third Team
We don't know what they would offer.
Tommy Udo stated that "Golden State was desperate for Deng". Maybe they'll go all out.

We can't trade Deng! He is the glue!
I hope the Bulls can get a top ten pick!
Bulls need young players that can score and play with Rose in his prime.

LeBron lights up lots of guys for a reason and literally nobody can flat out stop him. You don't stand a chance against him in a playoff series without a good cover, and I'd guarantee you the Heat themselves would put Deng up there as one of his toughest guys to face because he makes him work on both ends and can hang for 40 plus. Harden is revered around the league, and LeBron ate him up. Deng faired a lot better in last year's ECF, both offensively and defensively. Either way, run up on LeBron with rookies and lesser defenders and he'll put up 40. In short, you won't have a chance. I'm not saying you can't trade Deng just because of LeBron, but it's one element nobody's talking or thinking about, which I view as an oversight.

Deng does a very good job with individual defense but I think a lot of it is team defensive schemes.

More of the same here.

"If I was a GM I would be shopping around for players too. They have got to show that they do something! A lot of GMs don't just sit there, they're trying their options.
"Me, I always say there are two things when trades happen . If I was to be let go by a team and nobody picks me up, that's probably the worst thing. But whenever you hear your name in a trade, that means there is somebody at the other end who wants you.
"If it's not true the GM could always come out and say it's not true. But if the GM doesn't come out and say it, there are probably talks. And there should be.
"As much as I want to stay on the team - I love Chicago, I love the Bulls - at the same time I know the business part of it. Sooner or later, all the rumours are going to come up. At the end of the day there are no hard feelings and I'm not a 21 year old kid who will get upset by it. I understand the game.
"I dont think they are paying me back for the Olympics. As a GM that's his job to try and get the team healthy and ready for next year. I understand both sides of it. But again it comes down to a bad injury that happened at the wrong time. I just try to let people know I'm going to be ok."

Don't want either and I don't want to trade Deng for the 7th pick.
