I think the Warriors have soured on this deal. If a guy you are counting on is going to miss up to two months of the season and you are counting on making the playoffs, how many games does his not playing cost you?
It is going to be too for this team to make the playoffs and every game counts.

I would just love us to go over .500 next year.
deng or Iggy would definitely help us over with their talents on both sides of the court
Get it done f.o!

Iggy. I like Deng but I don't trust his health.

If the deal is Deng + #29 for #7 + Biedrins + Wright, I do it even though I expect Deng to miss a month or two. (Caveat: that's if MKG, Barnes, and Drummond are off the board and we're stuck picking between Lillard, Waiters, and the rest.)
The key for me is the #29 going back, and the fact that we keep Jefferson and get rid of Biedrins instead. We'd still have a passable SF rotation (Jefferson / Rush / maybe McGuire) until Deng got back, so there isn't a real hole in the line-up. With #29, #30, #35, #52, we should be able to package something to move up in the first to help with big man depth. (Maybe something like #30 + #35 to move up to #23 and get a guy like Melo or Nicholson.)
While I'd like to make the playoffs this year, realistically we probably wouldn't make a lot of noise. But I'd really like the line-up in 2013-14 with the starters coming together and a young bench that had aged and improved.
1-2 months of a guy being hurt means you're getting a better value. It's what smart teams buy, as we've done with Bogut.
If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?

Exactly. We need a new poll.

giberish wrote:Iggy and Deng are elite wing defenders who also contribute on offense (as opposed to Tony Allen/Thabo who are elite wing defenders but 5th options on offense). Adding them would be a significant upgrade. They do have some short/long-term health issues, especially Deng who's apparently putting off surgery to play in the Olympics and is likely to miss the early part of next year (and obviously things could go worse.
Granger is a solid improvement, but not a huge deal.
Gay would be a huge mistake. He's not that efficient on offense and a poor defender. Add in the largest contract of the bunch and that's just not a good ideal.
SF improvement isn't a must. Any 2 of Rush/Wright/Jefferson can cover 48 mpg at the position solidly. Using assets supposedly earmarked for a SF upgrade to help out the rest of the team is probably the best idea. Backup bigs are a huge need. Backup guards also need improvement. IMO Lee is a good sell-high candidate.
I agree that depth at the C/PF is what we do NOW because,as GSW fans SHOULD recall....often we can't draft/trade for/otherwise get the big guys, whether starter or depth. When we do...we pay dearly in trade...then pay again in salary. Getting Bogut should be a big plus, but we traded a player who can avg 25 pt,got a guy who can avg 15...and we had to also swap a cheap young big for an unwanted, costly and old wing.
My answer to the poll...would have been NONE OF THE ABOVE. If forced to give up the pick/picks and whatever...Granger is the guy in the options I favor. He's less costly than most, relatively healthy, and is a complete player.
Who I want to add...is Jae Crowder...with #30 or 35. While those who never see games seem to want Waiters or Drummond, Crowder was the Big East POY. He's a tough defender, 6-6 but 235 and looks like Azubuike with more muscles. He rebounds better than Barnes, and scored more. He led ALL forwards in steals. Nice FG %. Gets to the FT line. What's not to likee? And he can be had at 30...letting us go big at 7 (or maybe swap 7+35 for 14+16 and go big with both).
I'm not Isaiah Thomas. I want to outsmart the bastards, not just throw money around...even if it's someone elses money. I like how the Thunder and Pacets are efficiently building a core. You don't get that bonus of having team chemistry,if you are a meat market, just selling off the inventory as fast as possible. Since "We Believe" GSW has turned over about half the roster every year. Only Biedrins remains and he's so not in the plan GSW seems apathetic about improving/restoring him. Odd...in that if he made normal progress..he'd be as good as Bogut, maybe better. The second most senior Warrior is Curry. Compare any contender. Which one's senior guy (who's existence matters) is still on his rookie deal?
Yes, you do need to make a few GOOD moves but over the years, there were not many good moves. BAD moves? Yeah...plenty. One way or another, GSW seemed to spend the decade trying tio shed bad contracts,then...oops...collecting even WORSE. In the last decade, I'd say GSW bought out about 10 duds. That's pretty nasty.
CENSORED... No comment.

Re: SF Options - Who do we want most?
A possibility is pick Drummond at #7 if he is available and then make a trade with Phily, who desperately need good bigs. Drummond could make Philly a near complete team if he contributed immediately and if RJ was sent as well, maybe they'd send Hawes along with Iguodala. Add the #30, but that deal would be feasible, as they need a very good big and Drummond's hype and potential is just too much. Iggy would start as SF and Hawes would backup Bogut. Maybe instead of Hawes, add #30 and they give #15.

I didn't think this was going to be possible, but there are rumored trade discussions going on with Cleveland. Will MKG be there at #4? Will Waiters be there at #7?
