Check out Kemba's numbers over the past 10 games. Incredible, and great FG%. Nearly every game last year Kemba was 3/10 FG or worse. Lately almost every game is 6/13 or better, with some great games.

Kemba is the only one keeping us in games, just look at the +/-. Our bench has been incredibly poor over this losing streak, with only one of Gordon/Sessions/JT showing up every game and Haywood has been horrendous since coming off the bench.

Its hard to run an offense when no one you are playing with is an offensive threat. Sorry, but thats why we have to keep Mully in the game and shooting as much as possible, because with him out of the game, we either turn the ball over or have a shot clock violation. I'll take a bad shot over a turnover/shot clock violation.

Without Mully, we are basically my high school team, where we failed to even get up a shot on offense most trips down the floor. It was abysmal.

"Mullens needs to shoot as much as possible," even though there are several players on the roster who have shown that they can score much more efficiently and at a higher rate than he can. Seriously, how does that make even the slightest bit of sense?

I'll give you that Mullens does take care of the ball -- although he's not asked to handle it, and he shoots whenever he does touch it -- but it's not like the rest of the team is turnover-prone. The Bobcats have the sixth-lowest turnover percentage in the league so far, in fact. Plus, a dead-ball turnover is better than a terrible shot that provides a transition opportunity. That backwards shot attempt against the Lakers pretty much summed up Mullens' primary contribution to this team--wasting possessions.

That Kemba has played this well without anyone remotely resembling a starting-caliber big man is remarkable. No other point guard is being asked to make chicken salad out of chicken ****. Hopefully, we get him a real big man soon.

Played excellent in the first half. Really ran the offense as well as he probably could have in that first quarter. Simply got outscored because our defense sucks balls. Well done to Kemba.

He didn't seem to need a big man in the 1st qtr and a half? He just didn't impact the game at all over the next 2 1/2 qtrs.

theoretically a disadvantage of hedging hard on the screens which the smart teams always do against us after Kemba burns them is that your big gets either great positioning and/or a mismatch. against us its basically riskless because Mully refuses to post up deep in the paint and Biz is more likely to either drop the ball, or if he actually makes a post shots its basically luck regardless of whos guarding him because he just kinda throws the ball up there anyway with no real polish.

the only reason teams dont do that vs us all game every game is because they are lazy or poorly coached

Because they absolutely ignored the screener. Mullens was playing scared, Biyombo doesn't set good enough screens and can't catch anyways, Haywood is too slow and doesn't dive. The PnR is two people. They focused on Kemba entirely and it worked. He was going 2 on 1 with help coming even if he split the double team. The Warriors adjusted defensively and that was that.

They need to run the PnR with MKG since they keep trying him at the four anyways...

The interesting thing is that teams pretty much doubled Augustin and Kemba all the time last season.

Here is the biggest personal endorsement I could ever give Kemba:

I have never, ever been ok with extending any rookie we have ever had on this roster. From Okafor to Felton to May (obviously) to Morrison to Augustin to Henderson (unless it is at reasonable $$$$, which I doubt).

But I am VERY open to extending Kemba..............and would pay slightly over in order to lock him up (G.Wallace style).

a heads up - two new Kemba videos posted on the youtube thread. his career high that came against Orlando and the 28 point game at LA. I probably will do the Phoenix or Miami (or perhaps both) game in the near future.

Well, he's been better than Ray, Deron Williams and Jason Terry.

You can make an argument for Wade, Ellis, Felton and Jennings, however, these can go both ways.

Imo, the rest have been better than him.

So yeah, I'd somewhat agree with you.

Most those guys won't get in on votes, it'll be the whole coaches vote thing. Kemba would beat out Terry and Ray Allen, etc for that.

Knicks fan here, would much rather have Kemba over Felton 10x out of 10. Bobcats just need some defensive enforcers, but Kemba is emerging into one of the best guards in the east, top 7-10 atleast.

home/away splits for kemba

home: 21.5ppg, 45.8%fg, 39%3pt 6.4apg, 5.9fta
away: 14.1ppg, 37.9%fg, 25.0%3pt, 5.2apg, 2.8fta

those are some extreme differences. some can be explained by kemba not getting any calls on the road, but regardless, kemba has to find a way to become more consistent away from charlotte.

the good news, at home, kemba is playing lights out. his efficiency at home is amazing considering the offensive burden placed on his shoulders.

that 39% from 3 at home is promising. also worth noting on the road is that we travel more and get less rest, but that's every team

This is one of the reasons that we really need a low post presence to take some of this pressure off of Kemba to do so much. A low post scorer would make things easier for everyone. That is why part of me would really like to take a chance on Zeller. If it wasn't for that 6'8 wingspan I would be sold on him.

Biyombo's standing reach is about 9'3" because of his massively long arms. Zellers would be about 8'10" if I had to guess. So still pretty decent. Kevin Love's is 8'10" and Zeller is better on defense than Love.
