Seriously, his shooting wasn't just good for a PF but was good for the entire NCAA that year. He had the total package and showed up in the biggest games.
I think he still has a chance of breaking out but it's hard to draft Bennet high after two guys who dominated the college game in Beasley and D-Will pretty much fell off in the pros.
And Thomas Robinson isn't even in the discussion. He has very few NBA skills other than rebounding.
it depends on which direction those similar players go. derrick doomed himself by trying to fashion and promote himself as a SF. there's much more to being a SF than being able to hit some 3's.
now if guys like bennett follow him and beasley down the same path, then they too likely won't live up to their potential. if bennett embraces the PF position, uses his perimeter skill as a bonus, shows more willingness to scrap and do the dirty work, like a paul millsap, then i think he'd be more productive and more highly regarded.
unfortunately, early indications are that he's more derrick williams than millsap.
