I think they are considering this because of the positive reception they got when they honored that kid with the rare disease. I think it is a bad idea because like they said would affect the free agency.

Silver needs to hurry up with that vote and get Sterling out that is what he should be focusing on now that the season and draft are over. How come we haven't heard anything on that yet.

This is actually a great move. We're only talking a 5 to 6 day difference but instead of trades being put on hold because they can't be consummated until July 1, they will now be able to happen right then and there.

The NFL makes the fans wait over 2 months between the Super Bowl and the draft. This is a mere 2 to 3 weeks.

NBA is a business and they want to make money.....Awards Show, Rigging playoff games all help that bottom line. Not to mention, How much they love talking about their international ratings.

They don't need a dumb ass awards show. What they DO need to do is fix the lottery. Hell, it isn't even July and we already know Philly is planning to TANK ALL OF THE NEXT SEASON. Get that garbage outta here! Their fans should be canceling their season tickets in droves this week.

Simple fix:

Break up the lottery into 2 tiers. Give the 7 worst teams at the end of the season all an equal chance at the top pick. Then give the 8-14 worst teams an equal chance at the 8-14th picks. Add a rule that you can't pick in the bottom tier for more than 2 consecutive years. Once you are in that upper tier, you have much more incentive to either make the playoffs and appease your fans, or play the heck out of your rookies and make them better players. If you are falling in that 8-14 range, you WILL try harder and do what is in the best interest of making your team better for next year. If you know you are finishing in the bottom tier in late March (or whatever) you will no longer have incentive to tank 24 straight games. You will try harder, not sit out your 1 pseudo star player with a fake injury, and/or you will play your rookies more to give them more real world experience - to make them better for next year.

It is such a simple solution, you really have to question why the 30 owners don't want to fix the current problem.
