Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Plus he's stronger and tougher than Turner - even if he does tend to fade away more than I'd like on inside jumpers. And he's a guy you really want on your side in crunch time. Turner can be a very good part of a supporting cast. At this point, I don't see him as being the main guy for a franchise. That could change - since he's only 18.
I had him as the #1 prospect in this class for a while. I am very high on his talent, but he has just been so inconsistent. I rarely say a kid who could be a lotto pick should return to school, but in this case, he could gain a lot by returning to school for another year. He'd be more of a go to guy next year and would then be entering what is likely a weaker big man draft.
Maybe, but many think that practicing against pros is better for development than playing in college. While he is really raw offensively, he did have a better block rate than Towns....2.7 per 22 minutes. Today he got in foul trouble and only had 16 minutes but still pulled down 10 rebounds.
For the record, I don't think he is on the same level as Towns, but it is interesting the numbers are pretty similar, and he is really young and has the same size with a longer wingspan. I'm just wondering if he would be a good pick for the Suns to back up Len, especially with Len being somewhat prone to injury.

Guys with his talent level need to learn to be a dominate player. He can't do that as a backup big in the NBA. Or at least it is less likely.
bwgood77 wrote:So do you feel the same way about Towns since there #s are even (ie, they dominate equally for the most part offensively and defensively) despite the impressive passing instincts allowing Towns to achieve over an assist a game?

No. Towns is an NBA ready player who is taking less minutes and stats for the good of his team. On Texas, If they flip flopped teams, Towns would be an All American and Turner might not see the floor too often. Their situations are so different that their stat similarity is a mirage.

Set the numbers to the side for a moment sir.
Towns is physically and mentally ready for his NBA run Turner isn't. Turner's game is heavily reliant on confidence when he's feeling good about what he's doing out there he looks the part of stud. When he isn't you can clearly see he needs more time at this level. Turner plays well against smaller guys, bangs to the point you wouldn't even recognize the kid on second glance. Then there are the times he's against NBA type size. He becomes timid, pushed around far to easily and settles moreso than taking the jumper in confidence. Can't stress enough how you really REALLY need to WATCH them and not just look at numbers.
I'm assuming you watch the NBA. 2 or 3 seasons back when the Pelicans were the Hornets and Greivis Vasquez was the starting PG he put up equal to better numbers than Rajon Rondo did for the Celts when he was healthy that year. You make that trade str8 up? probably not. Probably not even today you make that trade str8 up. Numbers only go so far.

it was earlier in the year and he has gotten better since then overall, toughness and size is still in question though and that's what the video exposes some of.

How could you be so convinced he is that good of passer if he averages 1 assist a game? Because of high school?

Towns defense is just so much better, his offense is a work in progress tho, he's done a good job against inferior smaller competition like his last game but I wonder if he can play against size. I haven't seen many games of Towns tho .
