We are doing drafting thru the forum again right? I missed two live drafts for football and I like the slow draft more, lol.

I'm kind of on the fence if I'll play again. I did a bad job of keeping track of my lineup last year.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

I was assuming so, but I just saw that it is being moved to espn (which I think is good) but I am not entirely sure about how the draft will be run. I assume it will still be in this thread though. It's pretty tough to find a good time for everyone, and I don't know if everyone has used espn.

I noticed earlier sunskerr said in the OP at the bottom that it is moving to espn. I like that idea as I think the fantasy site is much better.

Ya just saw that in the first post. Only thing I like on Yahoo is the quicker lineup setting feature. Other than that, I think ESPN is superior.

Yeah I like the idea of drafting via this forum, gives owners more time to make decisions and makes it more strategic. That being said I'm happy either way.

If we can come up with a way to enforce this, that would be great. Like, set a time limit for each pick, and then if an unreasonable amount of time has passed, the person next in the draft order can just "autopick" somebody for that person.

I dont think that's the best option since we'd all just pick 3rd stringers for the skipped player.

We'll have a time limit starting October 1st (I'll make it whatever length the roto leagues are using). Any time between the draft thread opening and October 1st you can use however long you want (although again, try to be fair about it - people still want to make their picks). Pm your short list for a round to a mod as usual if you can't make it.

If I recall correctly, we had a time limit last year which started in October but I pushed it back because our draft was running so smoothly that we had a lot of extra time. So hopefully we get the same result.

You could just auto pick the next highest ranked player according to the default pre-rankings.

I don't think there is any real rush to start the draft. Once it starts, it does get frustrating when people take forever, but ultimately it's not that big of a deal. The season doesn't start until late October.

Yeah thats the only thing about offline drafts is you do tend to get one or two owners who just seem to take forever with their picks. It can get annoying especially when they take 48 hours + to make a pick. In the past we've auto picked for them with the next highest ranked player according to the pre-ratings, seems to be the fairest way.

I'd love to start after Sept 16th. That's the first day you can do espn mocks.

There's no real rush which is why we're (in all likelihood) starting a running clock on October 1st. Again, last year we were well ahead of schedule so for now there's no need to do any auto picks. In fact, I was pushing the running clock date back. If you're not going to be able to select your player during the running clock period, pm a short list to a mod and they'll do it for you.

Staying active during the draft time (even when we dont have a clock) or letting a mod know you won't be able to make a pick is the best way to do things and so far we've had no problems. Autopicking is for drafts that are done quickly (ESPN&Yahoo pages). It simply doesn't make sense when our draft has over a month to be completed.

I feel the best way is when the clock expires that person gets picked, the draft proceeds. Whenever the skipped player gets on he can make his pick.

I think that I'll be interested in playing again, I've just been holding out to make sure I'm not over-committing. I'll confirm for sure in the next couple days here.

Best case scenario is that someone who might not be around a lot or is going on vacation or something, gives like his top 10 choices to someone in another league, and they can give the person's pick if he isn't around. I'd be happy to do it for any league, and will keep quiet, though there could be a chance I wanted the same person and would pick him, so that could create a little controversy. D league could send picks to Miklo and China could send them to me. Premier usually runs pretty cleanly so there probably isn't an issue there.
