He's back. Dudley had his career-high 12.7 points per game in Phoenix during 2011-12 and has seen a downward trend on his stats. He has been relatively durable in that time, missing just 14 games in the last four seasons combined. Dudley is 30 years old, so he's past his prime. He should get minutes as a stretch four with some time at the three, but it likely won't be too much because of their rookie power forwards, Dragan Bender and Marquese Chriss.

The Dudley signing is real positive for Suns. He will help Bender & Chriss something I'm not sure Mirza would do and he can play the 3 and 4

Suns wanted someone who could start for a year or year 1/2 while Bender & Chriss develop then go to bench - Dudley perfect for that role

‏@SeanSullivanNBA Mirza is all about Mirza. Deadly three-point shooter, but Duds brings chemistry & vet qualities Suns are in need of.

Well, if we had to pay someone, I'm glad it's Dudley. I used to think $10mil per year for someone like Dudley would be an over pay. After today, I think that's a good contract. Good news is I will be wearing my Dudley jersey more often.

Hopefully the contract is front-loaded?

Like the signing. Vet leader gets thrown around to a lot of guys who don't deserve it but Dudley is the real deal in the locker room.

Decent deal considering, but was hoping for maybe someone a tad larger and maybe a smidgeon younger; may be a bit more dynamic. Maybe he provides what we need, but was really hoping for a Jon Leuer/Marvin Williams type.

Can someone who knows a bit more about Darrell Arthur or DeMar Derozan? Obviously the latter costs over $100M more, is 4 years younger, but honestly, doesn't seem worth the extra cost. And on the former, he's cheaper, and while not quite the offensive threat, seems every bit as capable to get the job done.

EDIT: And don't get me wrong; thrilled to get Duds back, but I think we still need a Vet PF, and thought maybe Leuer or Marvin Williams might be a better fit--Duds almost seems a tad redundant with Tucker on the Roster.

Great signing. Great value. Love duds. We need chemistry on this young team, and duds creates that out of mid air.

Still some bigger moves to go, but man, McD is pretty efficient. I know he had the big blunder, but the guy can get some pretty under the radar stuff done.

I don't really get it, nice guy but at best a role player. The good thing is that if he gets big minutes our draft position will be better come next June.

It is suggested by some that he is a power forward. I only know him as either a SF and SG. He is going on 31.

How does this affect Warren's minutes?

Another role player to add to the mix with limited upside.

I cannot imagine watching Tj Tucker and Jaren Dudley on the court together, barf.

Yeah, I'm not getting it either... Dudley just got the same deal as Al Jefferson... Not a good deal IMO.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

This is a good signing. Considering his game isn't dependent on athleticism, his game should age well with even more experience. He's the perfect guy to come in and bring that positive energy and leadership to this team. His contract is about right

I see people talking about dudley like he's still a wing. He's not. He's pretty much exclusively a stretch 4 at this point in his career. He did a podcast with Zach Lowe earlier this year and said this exact thing. He's the mirza replacement.

Agree 1000%.

Does PJ start at the 3 and Jared start at the 4? Really? Add in a 50 year old Tyson Chandler and we quite possibly have the least athletic and worst front line in the NBA. Yeah the effort will be there, but this could be very very ugly.

And if this takes away time from TJ, Chriss, and Bender...yuck.

I guess they want TJ to earn the starting spot, and Chriss/Bender to earn the starting 4, and Len to earn the starting 5. Makes sense, but also punishes the fans until the youngsters step up.

I am OK with this signing. I am not excited about it, but he is a good role player who can contribute to the team for sure.

I wanted a bigger and more talented player like Deng, Marvin Williams or even Joe Johnson, but it's all right, Dudley is versatile, good shooter and smart...and we needed all those things.

It's possible that PJ Tucker starts at PF and Warren at SF. Tucker is stronger and longer than Dudley,so he can better defending PFs.

We will see what Watson thinks about our rotations in the next few weaks, I am intrigued about that.

I love Duds just like everyone else but this signing doesn't make that much sense. Unless we have a Tucker trade awaiting.

We need players, just that.
Budinger gone, Leuer gone, Teletovic gone...

Right now, 5 players for two spots (SF, PF):

Warren, Tucker, Dudley, Bender and Chriss.

Pretty happy to get Dudley back on the team. Good mentor for the young guns, and just an all-around class act.

Also was part of probably my favorite Suns roster of all time in the 2009-10 team. Loved those guys because nobody expected them to do what they did, before the season started I felt like we got rid of the bad juju and we could be a fun team that has the chance to do something exciting. They exceeded my expectations and despite the way they got out I was proud of those boys. I believe they had the most high fives of any team that year, their chemistry was on point.
