I thought of Tristan Thompson after making that post. Though he's largely been a PF in his career; got moved into a traditional starting center type role just late last season (even last season his play-by-play has him as PF 77% of the time).

Wasn't aware Horford was that small; he is indeed listed as 0.25" shorter than Howard on DE.

He played almost exclusively center last season. Looking at 82games top lineups for Thompson, it isn't until Thompson's 10th most frequent lineup position that he shares the floor with Channing Frye. Even in lineups with Frye, he shared C duties. 17th lineup has Mozgov and there TT was the PF.

This is the best pic to gauge their height difference

About an inch in Kg's favor taking into account KAT's hair and KG's lack of it. A little more than that perhaps since KG has a bit of a lean too.

Draftexpress has Kat at being measured 6'10.25" barefoot in 2014. KG has always claimed to be 6'11 and "change" barefoot.

Stockton looks small next to Penny. I don't know how PG's guarded him especially with his killer speed. In this pic, Penny looks taller than Barkley too. Barkley is taller than MJ, so Penny seems like a legit 6' 8"

Barkley is a bit shorter than MJ, many pictures show it, 6'5'', Penny listed as 6'7''.

I never understood why the NBA feels they have to lie about players' size.

If Iverson is 5'10 why not just say so? If Shaq is 340 why not list him as so? If Kareem is 7'3... If Kevin Durant is 7'2... Just Tell Us!

In a perfect world I think the NBA should REALLY measure and weigh players each and every offseason before training camp and give us an accurate size and weight. It would be so much better to be able to look at a player during and after their career and be able to look at their stats when they were such and such size and weight compared to another.

Like Chamberlain for example.

Why is this so hard for the NBA to do?

Googled Wilt's height and came across this thread. Pretty interesting stuff.

Why no Thurmond in this comparison? Bellamy? Gilmore? Sabonis? Look at this pic of Thurmond here--he was a beast--all lean, hard muscle. I'd be willing to bet he was physically stronger in his prime than any five in the game today!

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the clearly 6'11 Durant listed at what, 6'9?

Cause Durant isn't 6'11. Maybe with shoes, but not barefeet.

That's the same height as Steven Adams and taller than Hassan Whiteside. I can't buy that, sorry but I believe draftexpress numbers more than random interview.

I don't know Oden barefoot height, but Chandler is 6'11 and a half and Kevin Love is 6'8. They are not legit 7 foot and 6'10. Love is similar height as LeBron, maybe James is also listed too short?

When was this picture taken? Wilt passed in 1999 (age 63) and Shaq was with Orlando from 1992-1996. If this is Shaq as a rookie that places Wilt's age at 56 in this pic. Wilt was still in incredible shape, running most days, lifting, playing volleyball and basketball, and generally making other males feel inferior, lol.

Poor Ewing, he looks small next to those two behemoths.

Wilt got legit NBA contract offers from owners into his 50's. He kept in incredible shape after retirement. There's a video of this scene where he shakes Shaq's hand and you can tell he's squeezing the **** out of it lol. More than any athlete of any sport in history, Wilt with modern sports science would be an absolute monster.

DraftExpress had Kevin Love listed (around time of his rookie season) as 6'7.75" without shoes. Granted, that was only around age 20 (about the time that photo was taken: both would have been about 20 years old); it's possible one or both of them grew a little more after that. But it's probably safe to say that Kevin Love's 6'10" listing is at best an honest in-shoes height (at worst, it's being a little generous to his actual in-shoes height).

You have to admit, though, that Durant's height easily holds its own against the likes of Chandler, DeAndre, and DMC; and he doesn't look too much shorter than Greg Oden (who DraftExpress lists as 7'0").

fwiw, DraftExpress lists Durant as 6'10" (as a 19-yr-old entering the draft), though fails to specify anywhere whether that's with/without shoes. Though there was also one quote (by Durant himself) listed on DE, where he states he's 6'11" (and again, that's back at age 19).

It's probably safe to say that he's comfortably north of 6'9" in shoes. In shoes at least, he's likely closer to 7'0" than to the 6'9" listing on bbref.

One of my favorite pics to gauge Wilt's overall massiveness.

Ali was a 6'3" heavyweight boxer:

Ewing was hunched in that picture, he's shorter than both of them but not the small player at all, he was behemoth in his own right .
