This is a referee problem not a player problem. Players are going to do what they think gives them the best chance to win. 90% of the NBA wouldn't be in the league if they didn't have that attitude. Every team flops. I don't see why you would single out a team, when I watch them it doesn't stand out anymore than the average team. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that'd the Celtics are in the same division as your favorite team?

This is silly. It's the same way that grabbing and holding goes on in every play in football. The team that chooses to stay perfectly squeaky clean and never push the limits of fouling or seeing what they can get away with, gets abused by the rest of the teams that aren't so "ethical".

I can't stand flopping, including when my guys do it, but I'm not going to pretend like its an indictment on anyone's character. If the NBA wants to do something about it, I'm all for giving those fines some more teeth.

I feel like its a Marcus Smart problem more than anything. You'll find players on every team that flop, and typically they slightly exaggerate contact to try and draw attention from the referees.

But Smart? That guy takes it to another level. Like this play: Korver bumps him slightly and Smart acts like he just got shot. Dude needs to tone it down a bit, if he's gonna flop at least to flop in situations where a foul actually occurred.

Of course plenty of players exaggerate contact, but Thomas, Smart, Harden, and Wade have taken it to an infuriating level. It is very sad.

NBA really ****** up aswell, they come out with a rule for flopping and dont even follow it properly. Typical NBA pick and choose BS. Big name players flop and nothing happens. Im more annoyed with them not being consistent on this matter. And it looks like travelling is part of the game now, way too many guys taking 3 steps and nothing. All for entertainment folks.

Fine the team instead of the player and flops will eventually disappear. Have the refs make their best calls during the game but have a committee review each game. Any time they see evidence that a player has tried to manipulate a referee into making the wrong call, fine the organization. Double it each time and double it again for each round of the playoffs. They won't have to worry about the players union protesting and you can bet the coach will put an end to it once he's sufficiently motivated (as in, job on the line).

I think you're just picking on one particular player in Smart but the league as a whole has to crack down on it so players from all teams stop doing it.

Gorman is one of the best in the business, and has been for many years (5-time Emmy winner, called the olympics this year).

Tommy is the cranky uncle, the "color" guy, who tells rambling anecdotes about the team back in his day, and never sees the home team do any wrong. We love him for it, and fully understand that no one else does.

But, Gorman is as professional as it gets.

Ainge-overvaluing-his-assets and making desperate-media-leaks have both been popular lately.

Maybe a couple throwbacks: We never would have won in '08 without a favor from McHale, KG's a big jerk, and Pierce fakes injuries are probably old enough to be retro by now?

Hahaha WOW that was... it's hard to put into words. Like a fish when pulled out of the water maybe?

The league should first warn players, then suspend them first for 1 game, then 2, 4, 8... I'd like to see them continue it with such penalties.

So this doesn't have anything to do it's Boston being a conference rival? Flopping is a big issue across the league, there are cases with almost every team. I can remember JR Smith(playoffs) and Shrumpert getting flopping fines in the same season yet I didn't believe it was thread worthy at the time.

Have you heard the Cavs color guy? The problem is they bring in former players and then are afraid to move on from them. At least Heinsohn only does home games now, Scalabrine is much more likely objective. But yeah, another issue that is league wide. Should have really just title this Celtic hate thread....

Let's also not pretend that even the most respectable players don't do it, you can make a case for almost a third of the league. Players do anything to try and draw a foul and win games, competiveness trumps morals.

Umm, flopping has very little to do with free throw attempts. Most floppers do their damage on the defensive end and while being off ball on offense.
