This is a pretty good return for a diva who's helped mess up two locker rooms already and was either gonna leave or cripple the franchise next summer. Any Timberwolves fan should be happy with the trade.

I think that's why i hate the deal. It's too perfect for Jimmy. Why do good things happen to bad people?

Re: Jimmy Butler Traded to Philadelphia (Discussion Continued)
Good deal both ways
Wolves add a 3&D SF on a very friendly deal who will help open up the court for Kat and help keep Wiggins at his natural position.
Will bolster bench by adding another serviceable stretch 4 who’s highly capable (better than bjelly)
Gets the team past the butler saga
Two guys who can run in transition and shoot 3s at a higher clip. Two things this team could use.
And if bayless is also included in this deal which I’m unsure of it opens up the door for another trade (potentially Tyus and gorgui for a position of need)
Menanwhile
Philly gets the scorer and wing defender they were so desperately in need of.
If the chemistry works with Saric & Covs I think Minnesota wins the deal.

Lavine is outplaying them all so far and Id take Markanmen easily over them, have you watch philly this year? Covington has been a non factor and saric has had like one good game

Really? **** man, I'm thrilled we got LaVine, Markkanen and Dunn out of our deal!
Give me RoCo and Saric over those three seven days a week and twice on Sundays.

2022 is the year that the NBA may allow players to go directly to the draft, so consider that a double draft, with twice the prospects. Moreover, this pick is the higher of DEN or PHI
Consider this 2022 to be about the 20th pick in a traditional draft. That’s good value.

Markkanen wasn't proven at all, LaVine was coming off a major injury and Dunn... more then half this board hated the pick/player it seemed.
You now have your PF of the future, and your 3&D guy.... and with Bayless, you can move Teague now too.
Bayless needs to be dumped as soon as possible. I can't imagine any team would want him, but he was expiring and that was the price we had to pay to get RoCo and Saric. Well worth it.

Thanks decent contracts but Covington better step up his play.

For what it is worth, I legitimately do not think Kelly was ever involved in the deal, the only person to ever report that was Gery Woelful; it would have put Minnesota into the Luxury-Tax (could be mitigated by a Justin Patton inclusion), but he never acknowledged or considered that, his scoop was definitely a sham.
Robert Covington is a top three defensive wing and can space the floor. Will almost certainly never be a creator off of the dribble, but I am glad to have him.
Also, thanks for locking the other thread ahead of me, much appreciated!
good pints and the locking must have been guts. I was going to lock it after making a new thread but then you made this one and it was better so I closed that one done and saw that the old Butler thread was locked lol.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

Both teams won this deal, for their relative goals. I wish the poll was created to make that a choice.

Re: Jimmy Butler Traded to Philadelphia (Discussion Continued)
We needed shooting and defense and that is what we got with this trade. Jimmy was turning into a complete clown, he needed to go.
I hated the Houston trade for the record, did nothing for us in the short term, this gives KAT and Wiggins some players to gel with and that will compliment them. Plus it doesn't make a conference rival amazing, glad to send Jimmy to the East.

Both are very good players. Wolves need to trade Gibson now if they can. We can't have those two fighting for the minutes.

You guys will love Covington, but Dario isn't likely to come over for another 3 or 4 years, if at all. You'll probably be left holding his rights and seeing no return.

Right are covington and saric going to pull a sabonis and oladipo? I really do not see it at all, certainly not under Thibs.
Those are two of the top 60 players in the league on incredibly team friendly deals. You hated Butler and now you hate the incredibly good trade we got for him. RoCo is first team All NBA defender.

I really hope we don’t have more MIA or HOU fans coming into post how their offer was better.

If we can't find a deal for taj, id actually buy him out and let him choose the playoff contender hed like to join. Taj has been great and i think it's be a goodd gesture.
