Love is going to completely cripple your ability to make any kind of moves for several years. He's regressed already, is a shite defender, and has a loooong contract. I'd rather be done at the end of next year than have Love's anchorweight for all of eternity.

I think the Cavs made terrible mistake in signing him to that huge contract, they only thing they can hope for is that he can get healthy and some GM someplace will think he has to have him and offer up a shorter deal.

This. So much this
Kevin Love's contract looks pretty bad for sure, but he is at least playable, and is a decent 2nd or 3rd guy on a competitive team - he might even regain some of his form and be a pretty good player. Ryan Anderson otoh is unplayable, purely dead weight; it's like he somehow swindled his way into his current contract
Same goes with someone like James Johnson - his contract is pretty bad, that's for sure, but is still better than Ryan Anderson who is just a waste of a roster spot - the same goes with some other players on this list, like Bismack Biyombo; terrible contract for his production for sure, but at least he's capable of some scrub minutes if nothing else
Vote Ryan Anderson

Ryan Anderson could be bought out and his final year stretched even though I don't like the stretch at all. Love is 30 and has had many injuries in his career is he gonna have more or less injuries as he gets older? KL is owed $120 million over the next 4 seasons. What if he does a Chandler Parsons, keeps missing 30-40 games a year but won't retire? I don't want to pay a 32 year old Kevin Love $31.3 million in 2020-21 and still owe him $60 million more over the next 2 seasons.
The Cavs should have never signed him to that crazy contract. If the Cavs could trade Love for Anderson and Bucks #1 the Suns own, they should, but I'm betting no Suns fans would do that. His trade restrictions drops off Jan 23rd.

Vote: Ryan Anderson (James Johnson is playable, Ryan isn't)
Nominate: Tyler Johnson (19.2M this season and next - he did just drop a bunch of points on the Magic, but still... $38M????)

Ideally, from my perspective, this list is about the value of players around the league, which determines what is the "worst contract", so perhaps my position is incompatible from the start. That said, I feel the forum obsesses far more about the length of contracts, rather than the immediate impact (and/or lack of impact) that players provide, while also discrediting trade optics.
All I am saying is that I find the suggestion that Charlotte wouldn't trade Bismack Biyombo for Kevin Love, or that Minnesota would need value to take on Chris Paul for Gorgui Dieng to be ludicrous. Fiscally, they look frightening (like REALLY terrible), but teams have always been willing to give up slight value and flexibility to improve rosters. I would absolutely say "screw it" if a trade of Jeff Teague and Gorgui Dieng for Chris Paul came up.
Chris Paul / Tyus Jones / Jerryd Bayless
Andrew Wiggins / Derrick Rose / James Nunnally
Robert Covington / Josh Okogie / Keita Bates-Diop
Dario Šarić / Anthony Tolliver / Luol Deng
Karl Anthony- Towns / Taj Gibson
That team is awesome; four insanely positive-impact players and someone who effectively a non-factor most of the time!
Financially, Luxury-Tax would be bordering on "guaranteed" the year after next season (being the first season they would be anyways) given that it adds a bit under thirty million, but after that Chris Paul would be an expiring contract. Given how massively improved Minnesota would be with him. The cost of the lost flexibility absolutely outweighs the negatives long-term, in my opinion. Minnesota will never be a free-agent destination and we are capped out long-term anyways, nabbing Chris Paul for Jeff Teague, Gorgui Dieng, and a protected first would be worth it 100%, even if for "only" two to three years of excellent basketball.
As a side-note, I get my example includes Jeff Teague and a first, but hopefully the post overall effectively illustrates the point I was going for.

I'm probably in the minority in that I wouldn't make that trade. While it might work out in the short-run (might), it's definetely going to hurt when KAT is nearing free agency. Charlotte is a bit of a different situation - and I don't think that these positions are necessarily the same for every team, because I absolutely think they could trade for Love and he'd be a good fit for them.
