Leonard signs with the Mavs on 5 July. This surely socks the whole league.

Is anyone getting that feeling that as we wait on Kawhi to make his decision that this feels similar to the police issuing a warrant for some criminal in a state and everybody is wondering, Where he is and when or if he be caught?

I think Kawhi chooses his team today on July 4th. Him coming out and choosing his team on July 4th is definitely fireworks. So instead of him setting off bottle rockets, etc, choosing his team on July 4th is his version of fireworks.

I mean kawhi maybe has been waiting where fa will sign and what trade will be done. Now he has a clear picture. East is weak bucks nów has some bad contracts and brogdon is gone. Philly lost two players that played really good against Toronto. Boston get a lot worse. Nets are on hold till next season. Now Toronto is a good move.

Greatest championship merchandise sales ever, league don’t want any early signing here, get out of here you lot. Still one day from being one day away.

The only reason that I put credence to this theory is that as far as anyone has seen Kawhi still is close to and repsects Pop.

And Pop DETESTS the Lakers.

Ultimately the incredible delay here will have cost the Lakers any chance at any relevant FA players to put around a suddenly rapidly aging LeBron and a perpetually injured Davis. This does not make a title contender in the incredibly deep and talented West and definitely cannot be a team to challenge the Bucks, Sixers or Raptors.

Assuming Kawhi resigns with the raptors this way he did things does maximize things for us against the lakers. It would be brilliant. Possibly a Masai move. But I"m not really buying it.

The only team really screwed by this would be the Lakers.
Could have signed another max player or gone for quality FAs and instead would be reduced to signing the leftovers

and sure they catered to Kawhi's every whim because they were trying to seduce him into staying long term but they lied and told derozan he was in their long term plans and they shipped him to a organization that Kawhi despises...the decrepit spurs
he's either going to the Lake show or the Chippers

You're already forgetting what the Clippers did to Blake Griffin? lmao

Damn, your right, Ballmer and those tight khaki wearing misfits did Blake so dirty, lied to his face, he gave blood sweat and tears
for that organization, they'll do the same to kawhi if his injuries flare up or he becomes a malcontent that doc dislikes just look at doc's track record , he fell out with all three of his big 3 in clipper land, lob city got extinguised and didnt meet expectations on his watch. Doc even tried to bring in a old washed up paul pierce at one point. Kawhi can see through that clipper facade, Boardman is laker bound or at the very least gonna try to repeat in toronto then have us do this all again in a couple years if he doesnt ink a 5yr deal

Raps barely have any roster/cap flexibility anyway.

Clippers still had the money to re-sign Beverly and make a few other additions. They don't mind staying patient and keeping cap space open anyway since their end goal is to eventually land a couple of star players, either this summer or during a future summer.

Lakers are the ones who would be the ones that stand to lose the most since they would've turned to someone like Kemba or Dlo if Kawhi decided early on.

So the only way I could maybe buy this theory is if he ends up signing with LAC and basically puts a big dent in the Lakers free agency plans. The Clippers benefit from that a lot more than the Eastern Conference Raps.

This makes no sense. The Lakers aren't losing anything, they are playing with house money. The raps lose their top player who are they replacing him with? The clippers had a decent season last year but do people really believe that team can catch lightning in a bottle again? Gallo is injury prone while Beverly and Lou will surely lose a step. Also what stars outside of kawhi can the clippers realistically get this summer?

Look at the Raps cap/roster situation, they wouldn't be doing much in the FA market even if Kawhi told them he wasn't coming back before the 30th. Of course losing Kawhi is a massive blow, what I'm saying is that there off-season plan isn't hugely impacted by it because they barely have any flexibility either way.

You're telling me that the Lakers wouldn't have signed at least 1 or 2 of the players that are now off the market if Kawhi told them he wasn't interested in signing with them on June 30th?
