Bayless would have been ok if he didnt get injured. In paper, he and ben looks like a good fit

The correct split IMO is Josh Rich, Ben and Horford (with Burke). Then Tobias and Biid (with neto).

That way defense can’t switch a Josh Rich/Burker and Ben/Horford 2man game while Biid-Tobi is not just another 2 man game that can’t be switched but both should have great chemistry to play together as 1-2 our scoring punch. Tobi and Biid can’t just change turns on offense because they aren’t juggernauts. Both have to work together.

What the media should ask Brett is who plays SG on the team and who does he think opposing SGs will be on defense. Will we see more time of Ben defending PGs?

Sixer fans will love Burke, he's going to give you guys some diet Iverson flashbacks on some nights.

He doesn't suck at all, he's actually pretty good now as a bench player if you need a primary scorer.

If anything I think a segment will overrate him because he’s good at scoring. I expect there will be more than a couple games where he scores 10 points in the first half then Brown benches him in the 2nd because he screws up on defense or just isn’t a good matchup.

Embiid's story of his basketball journey was lovely.

I flip back and forth on where to put Harris and JRich. Right now I'm leaning towards Harris with Horford/Simmons (and Zhaire instead of a PG) and Richardson (and Neto/Scott) with Embiid. I think Joel can pretty much carry any lineup, and it gives Richardson a chance to be more of a primary option since he'll be the 4th or 5th option in the starting lineup. I also like Zharie paired with Ben in a more spread out, uptempo lineup.

I imagine you'll see less Ben defending PGs less this year with Richardson and Zhaire as SGs that defend the 1. I loved JJ, but having to hide him on defense made for some awkward matchups.

Believe he said at that lunch that the plan was Richardson to be the main point of attack defender.

Naa. I don't think you want that. He has some creation skills, but you don't want him being the primary option, because he isn't a good finisher. He's a good passer out of drives, but not a finisher.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Well, clearly you'd be playing through Embiid in those situations, but JRich is a pretty solid DHO guy to pair with him (no JJ, but he was among league leaders in those possessions and finished in the 70th percentile) . Jo's carried lesser lineups. I figure he'd be able to make due with Neto/Richardson/Ennis/Scott, while we'd finally have a good lineup to throw out there when he's not on the court.

Yeah, I heard or read that somewhere too (and that Zhaire was doing it in a demonstration or practice or something). Can't figure out where I got that from though

Makes sense, he had that role a lot in summer league. Ennis and Ben are more wing defenders, and Thybulle is more a Cov-type off ball guy.

I guess Burke or Neto will probably do it a fair amount too just for size reasons.

Nice thing about this year is that we're good and get to focus every day on the main storyline of 'are they really good enough to go all the way?' but this first couple months we also get:
a) to hope that our young cornerstones (Ben+Embiid) can make a leap to elite or MVP-level status
b) to ogle the new guys we know can play but haven't cheered on as Sixers yet (Horford+JRich)
c) to scrutinize, exaggerate, and overthink every move made by a couple interesting and legitimately promising rookies (Zhaire+Thybulle)

Don't often get all that in a season, good time to be a Philly fan. Plus Mike Scott.
