Who has the money? Most competitive teams will have capspace freeing up in 2021, not this summer.

I think it’s a no-brainer for the Wiz to retain Bertans in a depressed FA market.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering as well. Will the Nuggets have cap space? Maybe some teams clear up space during the season, like the Cavs and Knicks.

I'd like the rockets to give a first for him, just because those picks do nothing for them and they don't have salary matching for bigger upgrades. Plus he's young and bird rights

This feels like the kind of situation that would make sense for both teams for a 1st to be involved. How do you all match salary though?

Nene, Green, 2020 HOU 1st lotto prot for Bertans works I think

They'd have to include one of Clark or Hartenstein too for salary. IDK if Washington has guys they'd be willing to throw in, if they get the Disabled player exception for Miles they'd need to open one more spot, or I'm sure a team like the hawks with an open spot would take one of the Rockets young guys for free. Still shocked they didn't get it for wall

Wall is already playing 4 on 4 drills and dunking in practice. He could probably play right now. They're definitely going to hold him out until the season is half over because they get a big fat insurance check when that happens, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Wall playing the 2nd half of the season.

I like him and his Bird rights for a neutral player and a 2nd. Wouldn't give him a first as he is very one dimensional.

He is one dimensional in that he might be one of the best in the world at the most valuable skill set in his sport. As a passer, defender, and interior scorer he actually quite good, but he is simply ELITE at a more valued skill set. Better version of Kyle Korver... Wiz have no intention of trading.

Oladipo has been playing 4 on 4 and dunking in practice for a month or two now. That’s not how rehab works though. Wall isn’t playing because he can’t play right now. Same for Oladipo. When he can play, I imagine he’ll play, both guys.

If Oladipo has been playing 4 on 4 and dunking in practice for a month or two, he could conceivably play in an NBA game right now. If Indy was facing a Game 7 in the playoffs tomorrow, Oladipo would play.

I'm not saying it's prudent to play either Wall or Oladipo right now. Indy is humming along just fine without Oladipo so they may as well wait until he's fully 100%. And Washington is throwing the season so they may as wait until Wall is 100%. My only point was that I understand why the league did not grant Washington the injury exception. They probably got one look at Wall in practice and knew there's no good reason for him to be held out the entire season.

No, he likely wouldn’t play. Playing him would risk the entirety of his career and he’d have to be willing to do so. We can all get excited and think that 4 on 4 is the same as 5 on 5, but it’s just not, and the intensity and activity just isn’t the same at all for rehab purposes. But if you want to badmouth your own guy and your own franchise, that’s ok. It’s just not the way rehab and recovery works, especially from a ruptured Achilles.
