Mike Conley comes to mind. He's probably gonna push 300 Mill in career earnings by the time he retires

But the question isn't "Who was most unjustly overpaid" it's "Who got paid the most but won't make the Hall of Fame". It leans toward players who were good enough over long enough to get multiple big contracts, but will fall short of enshrinement. Parsons made ~125 million, which is insane, but there are a number of guys who have already made more who won't make the Hall.

Big Country Brian Reeves received a huge contract, was supposed to be the next Shaq, but was a key reason the Grizzlies ultimately relocated from Vancouver to Memphis lol

John Wall at the end of his contract will be at about $276 million. Mike Conley will be at about $275 million. Wall probably has a chance to secure another contract at the end of next season, while Conley is likely on his last major contract. I could see a team giving Wall the MLE for a few years, so I be he crosses the $290 million mark.

Well Mozgov definitely is getting in. The man scored 93 points! That's gotta make him a lock!

Basketball Reference has Blake at 54% HOF probability.
Wall is 32%.

Sneaky pick, Iggy has over $180m in career earnings but is only a 6% chance

Tobias is on the clock though, currently 0% chance and $250m at end of this contract

Conley $275m by contract end and currently 0.7%

Adjusting for inflation my picks would be:

Jermaine O'Neal: 216M
Juan Howard: 220M
Zach Randolph: 230M
Joe Johnson: 250M
Mike Conley: 273M

This discussion needs to be relative to when they played. Allan houston for example getting that deal in that era is incredible, but wouldnt be crazy by todays standards

There are two ways to do this:
Adjusted based on US Inflation
Adjusted based on NBA salary cap Inflation.

Either way is flawed
US inflation is significantly less than the NBA player inflation

Salary cap inflation drastically benefits older players when they could max a larger percent of the total team salary. If you adjust Patrick Ewings earnings based on salary cap he made something like $900M in career earnings.

Out of Juwan Howard is clearly the worst and Conley clearly the best.

All the advanced metrics love Conley. He contributed to winning teams everywhere he played. He was and is a good basketball player.

Juwan Howard's career earnings are mind boggling. He was never a good player and the metrics we have available today say he was a below replacement level player.

This is probably the best answer. Conley got a MAX deal with the Grizz following his rookie contract, then got another MAX or close to MAX deal from the Grizz, then got 3 years and $72M from the Jazz in another extension.

A guy like Parsons only got one fat contract.

Arenas got a moderately good (but not close to MAX) contract from the Wizards, back when the Warriors weren't able to match under the cap rules back in 2003. Then got a MAX deal from them but then got injured and it was his last big deal.

Maybe. Then again, if Wiggins keeps playing the way he is now for another 7-10 years and wins a couple rings, he may end up in the HOF. Dude just turned 27 two days ago and is playing the best ball of his career.

Harrison Barnes has signed two nearly 9 figure contracts, he's still 29. His chances at the hall of fame don't appear to be great.

John Wall, but if not him, my guess would be Wiggins. Wigs is probably going to earn a similar contract when this one expires, and then probably another big one after that. Not sure if he has enough time to close the gap with John Wall who has been paid a gazillion dollars to not play basketball for the last 4 years.

My first thought too.
The only thing that keeps him lower on the list of career earning is that small contract when he came into the league with Houston.
Funny thing is he was probably the best value contract in the league those first couple of years.
