They're a legit 2nd star and some growth from Ja away from being a legit contender. 3-15 they're as good as it gets. But finding Ja that legit #2 is going to be tough for them. And no I don't see JJJ being that guy.

Their only hope is Bane growing into that 2nd guy because it's certainly not Dillon either.

great season, this year was one of the steps you need to take before you get to the finals.

Really the only thing they have to do is trade away Dillon Brooks while he still has some value.

Everyone’s calling them a rising team, but let’s say the over/under is 56 games: who is picking over? I imagine they have some growing pains next year (see the Hawks), but are on a good path.

I think they’re championship contenders as early as next year. Ja is going to take over the league.

Great young uprising team… they teach league a lesson on how to develop your team, nobody gave them a chance with young players, young coach… but they not only made it, but also in big nice fashion

They kind of remind me of the Atlanta Hawks.

A dynamic scoring point guard who doesn't play defense.

A power forward who has the tools to be great but is inconsistent.

A bunch of young role players playing great but will they continue to do so once they all start getting paid.

I think they regress some next season. They probably lose Jones and Anderson. Brooks and Adams playing on the last year of their deals too. And, the Nuggets and Clippers will be much more competitive next season as well.

Same here......this was the easiest post mortem yet. I'd like to see more Grizzlies games next season.

With second year contracts for Ja (and to a lesser extent Clarke) kicking in 23-24 and Bane's second year contract on the horizon, I think Dillon is as good as gone after his play this postseason as well as the way the team played over the course of the regular season in his extended absences. If he's not moved on draft night, then I think he's dealt by the trade deadline next season.

Dude is a backup PG, MLE at best.

None serious team is giving him starter money.

I hope that you're right because the Grizz need to keep him with the expectation that Ja will likely miss a significant amount of games each year due to his style of play. I'm not sure who has money to throw at Tyus, but I would think teams with established firepower on the wings in need of a steady hand at the PG spot would be interested - Minnesota and Boston are two of the first ones that come to mind for me.

Thread summarizes a fairly good concensus, so not much to add. Perhaps focusing on improved mental game, but the GS series showed better execution discipline in the crunch than the Minn series, so improved even over a few weeks of playoffs experience.

Another saavy vet like Adams, but more in the Iguadala mode who could observe/study opponents and share weaknesses to exploit would be good for the bench. Help Za find ways to be more effective on d.

Rising team with a lot of good young players. The only concern I have is the way Ja Morant plays and his longevity in this league. I don't think you can win in this league if your superstar can't play defense and can't shoot the ball. Those are two very important aspects of today's game and when you can't do both that becomes a huge problem.

Memphis has a lot of talent on their squad but no one that can be the team's 2nd option. I think consolidating some of that talent and getting a legitimate #2 would make them an even more dangerous team.

I actually don't think they need a 2nd star. What they need is Ja to spend the entire offseason working on his defense, and for him to commit to playing a bit less hero ball until the 4th quarter/crunch time. The role players lock in more when he's out not because Ja ruins the team, they're just getting more involved and thus play better. Ja needs to lead by letting them get involved more & then he will have the energy to be a better defender. He's doing too much on offense and too little on defense right now. They don't need Ja to average 38pts a game, 28 points with better defense is just fine.

I think the Grizzlies might take a big step next year, but it's almost all on Ja. If he commits to defense & allows others to get more involved on offense the Grizz will have a chance at a chip and for years to come. But this is obviously a huge If.

The reql question is how did they get outrebounded by the Warriors as the #1 regular season rebounding team when even the Nuggets had no problem winning the rebound battle.

If they won the rebounding battle like they should they would have won the series.

Boss move would be to trade Morant for maximum value. He does trick moves but is a complete sieve on defense.

quite an unpopular opinion lol.

he's still young.

Championship DNA

Seriously, that is coaching and experience, and Looney/Green/Wiggins being 100% focused. The Warriors rebound and defend better than many understand, especially when it matters.
