Celtics were decimated by a KD replacement and were mainly competitive on the back of timely performances by a geriatric Horford.

This, and possibly a better point guard. Plus growth from all of the young talent. Tatum and Brown both need to work on their games.

Good team but being allowed to play aggressive went a long way to helping them get this far and I'm okay with this because this league has become extremely soft. Tatum is 24, they're getting closer (you have to lose it before you win it and experience is everything), thus they'll be fine.

Need a shooter with the $17M Fournier TPE is my initial impression. They showed a lot of good basketball over the second half. At their best they looked really great, but still had lots of lapses. Obviously it balanced out well enough to get to the Finals.

It takes time to unlearn old habits and commit new ones to memory. I know it’s a boring answer, but I’d run it back with this group. Just use the Trade exception for a bench shooter to upgrade over Pritchard and bring the floor spacing in their bench lineups together. See if a full training camp and the start to next year together can show more progress committing good basketball habits to memory. Then reevaluate at the deadline if you need a bigger shakeup.

Find someone that can initiate the offense without turning it over at an all time high rate. Going to be difficult. Overall talent is great but it´s still the same problem they tried to solve with Kemba and Kyrie. They want the defense that guys like Smart or White bring. But aren´t getting enough playmaking from them. Brown and Tatum proved once again that they cannot fill that role.
Maybe the solution is simple and Tatum´s improvement continues. Or we will see another attempt to install a true PG next to him and Brown.

Need a starting caliber pg to control the floor. They've been horrific with turnovers and that's usually the indicator; lack of a PG. Marcus Smart is not a starting pg in that type of offense if they want to win.

They played way over their heads

East will be even more dangerous next year

They should think about a rebuild

Need a PG...We can bash Brown and Tatum for the turnovers, but an actual PG on the floor wouldn't allow that. Smart is a good player and a defensive savant, but does nothing to make sure the offense isn't stagnant.

I also feel like that might open up their bench as well. Not having a PG can be detrimental to your bench guys who are bench players for a reason.

I think the inexperience showed. The moment was a little too big for their young core.

If they make a couple small moves, I think they'll be right back in title contention next season.

Young real good team I hope they battle the warriors for more finals. Turn the Horford contract into a younger improvement piece

Could the Celtics get Tyus Jones? He seems like he’s be the perfect fit for the bench unit

If Kyle Lowry did this you would have called him out in a nanosecond for flopping/exaggerating. In fact you actually have. Maybe take your homer glasses off just for once.

They need a point guard badly. The Tatum/Brown match will always be awkward as hell and I don't see their offense becoming consistent without someone else who can run the offense.

They just need a more organized offense and playmaker. But otherwise, they would seem to have everything it takes to be a title winner. 2 all-star wings, great defense, length, good coaching, etc...

Steph just wasn't to be denied in Game 4, but in Game 5 the Celts really threw away a great oppurtunity. It was a horrible shooting (from 3) game from Steph, but the Celts simply turned it over too much and missed too many FTs.
Brian Geltzeiler: You see Mark Jackson getting a head coaching job as early as next year?

Adrian Wojnarowski: Not if people make calls on him. Not if an organization is doing their homework and knows all the things he brings with him.

I called Lowry a flopper when he flopped. How can you honestly say he’s not. If he got elbowed in the head with visible blood, I wouldn’t have called that particular play a flop.

G.Will does flop, but why show a play when he gets elbowed and is bleeding?

No please....don't think I can take Lowry, Smart, Grant, Horford all flopping on the same team.
