I can understand your argument, but player development IMO depends on having a capable guard who can help make the jobs of the other players easier. This move can hopefully take RJ, Obi, and Quickley's game to another level since other than Rose, they haven't really played with a legit PG on the roster.
And having a guard who is capable of scoring 20+ a night and running a team, for now, doesn't require guys like Randle and/or RJ to force the issue and put themselves in trouble in crunchtime.

And what was CAA signed for role player development or bringing in stars? Cause I remember Mills got fired for not delivering them. Kemba wasn't even running the offense since he could barely get to his spots. And instead just launched 3s.
