I don't understand what exactly Mavs expect from Dorsey.

Looks like 2-way contract, it really isn't important, I'm surprised he took 2-way over guaranteed money in Eutope

That would be very strange, he could get near 1.5 mio net in Europe. 2-way is what? 500K?

Sometimes it’s not all about money.

A volume shooter on good percentage has a place if defense is not too bad.

Probably he wants to come back to NBA, this is his last chance.

I don't see much problem in RS... For the PO it's a different story. We will see.

I wonder what kind of promise did Mavs give to Dorsey? He was offered more than 1 mio net by Olympiacos and Fenerbahce.

And why did they sign him and not a 22yo Lawson who fit perfectly in out system?

His workout must been very very impressive.

Dorsey is at the moment much better player than any rookie or Green/Ntilikina. Problem is that he's what he's. Just average scorer, who needs ball in hands to be effective.

He for sure got some promises. He didn't leave 1 mio on the table just to sit on the bench or play G-league.

Probably they promise him the last year Dinwiddie role... Lead the second unit and be the 3rd ballhandler of the team.

a 2 way deal does not put you on the team full time it is a limited role situation and you can only play in so many games.

It's possible they gave him 2-way to prove himself, if he does, they'll convert him to guaranteed contract with the remaining roster spot.

Dorsey is a good shooter from range and I would not be upset if he came up to play on the a team but to make that move they need to also give minutes to others that are already here that could make him less of a keeper. I mean if green shows he has worked on his 3 point shot a lot and he can hit them at a much better rate he is obviously someone that we need to invest minutes into. Hardy is a guy that has the ability to create his own shot and so he is a keeper that we need to feed minutes to as well. He is going to take at least 20 to 30 games just to get his legs under him and start to see how he needs to approach things. Frank as a facilitator needs to show he can guard the other teams water bugs and work at finding scoring opportunities as they present themselves. Pinson obviously can score when he is hot and he needs to take a step up to show he is a guy that can do things to contribute on the court as well as off.

That is five wings / guards that we need to evaluate and start to make up our minds on. Green Hardy and Frank all have athletic capabilities and top level instincts that need to be cultivated. The better defender among them all is who needs to be given the most minutes and you need to evaluate Pinson and Dorsey as well but the end result is what matters not potential. Guys that can step it up and play NOW get to play at the A team level and the rest can go get minutes in Frisco. We will probably concentrate on these guys at the first of the season but we do need to add some bigs as well because 34 years of age at starting center is not a situation that you can go through a season with when you need another big that is a real center to step in when the new centers are not on the court or get injured. Another 2 way deal spent on a center is needed. Bingham is here but how is that likely to develop?

I would say it won't.

Whiteside and Cousins are out there waiting for the rest of the salary cap to dry up before they start accepting vet mins so that is a wait and see situation.

If Bingham is gone then another undrafted center could fit on a 2 way deal up in Frisco, that would not hurt to have waiting in the wings.

I would want to snag a vet at center to back up McGee and a developmental big to stash in Frisco that can show promise on the defensive end and on the rebounds. With Luka we just need someone who can dunk and slam the ball home on open dives to the rim. if they can defend and bang then that is a bonus. Orlando is off the board now that Miami paid him his million dollars so we screwed that up. Miami is a nice team to play for so maybe he was wanting that more.

It doesnt matter as he wont see any playing time anyway. The only good thing is that it is a two way, and does not take away that final roster spots, and still maintain that roster flexibility.
