I agree with you, Barnes is special...way more poential then SGA.

Barnes is special after 1 season? But sga isn't after the fact that he already has elite numbers for multiple years? I'll say Barnes is on the better team. But sga is much better right now. Nobody knows what Barnes will become in the near future. This is a stupid comment. If anything Shai is the best player on his team while Barnes is like 3rd or 4th on the raptors.

Why does nobody ever say Empty Stats on a Bad Team about SGA?

I feel as though SGA's efficiency is pretty decent and they do feel the need to keep him out of the lineup in order to stay bad.
I think it's a pretty valid point to make but SGA isn't really part of the cause of his team's problems, which I think is often the underlying argument of the "empty stats on bad team" claim-- the player isn't actually making the team any better, there is no good reason to rely on the usage rate they are getting those stats on other than for their own individual profile.

I would say SGA is absolutely an improvement for his team, the only real question to me is a matter of how much, since they still aren't all that relevant even when he's healthy as of yet.

except Barnes is worth way more than SGA. no team would trade Scottie for SGA straight up, never mind included 4 picks hahaha.
Some people talk just to talk. Surely you don't actually believe that.

yeah I believe Scottie Barnes + 4 picks >>>>>>>>>>> SGA. it's not close or debatable. you should chew out the guy who posted that.
I guess I should've been more specific, I was referring to the part where you said Barnes was worth way more than SGA and no team would trade him for SGA straight up.

True but the Raptors don't have anything else that could entice the Thunder into giving up their only young star (who's signed for a full 5 years starting now too). Thunder are absolutely not looking to break their best piece into smaller, lesser pieces, and definitely not for older smaller pieces. The Raptors best trade pieces--FVV, OG, Trent--aren't of interest to the Thunder.

And people keep joking about the OKC picks but they really aren't interested in more picks for its own sake at this point, they have too many and besides the whole point of the picks is to get them stars like SGA.

I agree, but Toronto still isn't trading Barnes for SGA. I have OKC needing to add value in that scenario. I just don't see either team moving either player.

he is and correct no team would. SGA trade value is less than Barnes, not sure why you find that surprising. Barnes has three more cheap rookie scale years of team control. it's not that close in my opinion. I see them as different tiers of trade value.

You're right that it's useful that Barnes costs less money for a few years, nice perk but I don't think any trade would rise or fall based on that. They're both too valuable as assets for a smaller contract to put someone into a different draft tier. That sort of thing matters more with role playing type guys but when we're talking about franchise building blocks, it's unlikely to be much of a major part of the conversation.

I would put them in the same tier as trade assets. I'm also maybe a little lower on Barnes than some might be, esp Raptors fans. I would probably take the certainty of SGA as an elite offensive player over the upside of Barnes.
