Also, Harden is so gone, he'd hate playing for a coach like Nurse.

high, high likelihood that Nate Bjorkgren will join his staff

The Sixers need to be saved and I have more confidence in a Nurse than a Doc to do it. Good hire!

I get the appeal of going after current Raptors now that Nurse is the coach, but I would avoid the temptation given that Masai will try to fleece Morey in any deal for them.

OG Anunoby is the perfect player for this team. Can we get him without trading Maxey? Maybe part of the sign and trade with Harden going to Houston? Kevin Porter to the Raptors.

Watch Morey's strategy pivot from getting all Rockets to all Raptors. Every year can be a new theme. Figure out which franchise he's going to try to get players from each year!

Really excited to see how Nurse uses our young athletes in Reed, McDaniels and Springer. All 3 should be rotation pieces and Reed should get a chance to start.

Step 1: check
Step 2: get Harden back on a deal that doesn't make me want to puke
Step 3: swap out some of these role players for some guys with length and athleticism

Maxey always killed the Raptors. I bet Nurse is excited to unleash him.

I'm also hoping that hiring Nurse and not MDA means that Harden is outta here.

Terrific hiring.

One of the best coaches in the game, and FAAAAR better than Doc. (I didn't even like Doc when I was a Cs fan back in the BIG 3 era).

The thing about him is Thibs 2.0 is blown out of proportion.
Nurse overplayed our starters because we had ZERO bench.
76ers have solid depth and Nurse will surely utilize the bench guys.

FireMorey wrote:People will wonder how Embiid feels about the hire. I'm not sure it's a bad thing if Embiid dislikes it. There needs to be way less cushiness around this organization. Everyone is far too comfortable. Morey probably has one of the most secure jobs in the league even though he's done nothing. Embiid can do no wrong. A has-been Harden gets whatever players he wants in free agency.

Embiid realizing he will get a coach who will call him out on his nonsense could be good for him. And if he can't handle it, you were never going to win with someone that fragile anyway.

It’s a valid point about him losing the locker room but I’m willing to give him a pass. FVV was in a contract year, OG was in trade rumors daily, and Barnes got anointed to early & didn’t work hard in the summer. It was a weird situation.

Add on top the fact that he & the team had that weird Tampa season where the couldn’t go home because of COVID. It was a strange few years for the Raptors so I kinda get why that locker room was a mess.

Not only that, but let's be honest. The days of coaches staying for a decade plus are over other than those exceptional cases, like GS, SA, and MIA. The dramatic changes in personnel with all the player movement are going to create different roster constructions and personalities every few seasons in most cases. If a coach can have a good 5-6 year run with a franchise, like Nurse and Bud both had, that should be considered successful. Teams have to be willing to move on when things have gone stale, one thing the Sixers need to learn.

Congratulation philly fans . Years after the great Larry brown Philadelphia now has an actual great coach who can manufacture great defensive out of left field plays. Offensively he might need a great assistant but Morey will figure that out

Didn't Nurse say to Masai good luck with that roster when he left. Or was that just a rumor?

I actually like a lot of our role players and don’t trust Doc’s player evaluation of them. Some of them are questionable to come back, but I could see them possibly evaluated differently with Nurse.

McDaniels- I think he was a very good acquisition. However, he didn’t hit his shots. Nevertheless, I would like to see what Nurse thinks of him.

House- He had a terrible season as well, but another guy who, in the right offense, is a good floor spacer.

Niang- I don’t know if Niang will be back or if Nurse will like him.

Shake- I’m not sure he gets the role he wants either way.

Didn't hit his shots? He shot 40% on 3s with a .580 TS% in the regular season. Perfectly fine numbers. In the playoffs, the numbers weren't that great, but he took a TOTAL of 20 shots. Volume that low means basically nothing. Two shots going in instead of bouncing out would've taken his numbers from subpar to excellent.
