Should have traded him in January when he was getting 15mpg.

I don’t think he ever actually had any value.

Pretty certain his future is overseas somewhere. Don't really consider him NBA talent. He has been in the league for 4,5 years now, he is pretty much a known product.

Bol had another gear that he couldn't sustain for long periods. I know for like a 3 minute stretch against the Nuggets last season he was the best player on the floor. I'm sure he'll be up for the Magic now.

I guess we could trade him for a 2 rounder to trade it for another 2 rounder on draft night and keep on trading it forever getting some sweet cash considerations each year.
Bol just could never play team defense or apply himself in a half court offense. Too big and slow for a wing, too slim for a FC. At this point he just can't play at playoff level NBA game. If we only had another roster spot.

Ideally you do it in like February after that big November he had but perhaps there was still hope for him here. He's tantalizing because if he cuts down on the dumb stuff he can be a rotational backup big but it never came.

Sounds like this FO has a hard time tango-ing in most situations.

I am often confused by fans saying WeltHam is inactive, lazy, and/or coasting.

Starting Lineup Last year

Fultz-Acquired via trade
Gary-Acquired via trade
Franz-Acquired via trade
Paolo-
WCjr-Acquired via trade

Magic Fans: OMG the summer when we overpaid Biyombo and Jeff Green was so embarrassing we don't have to spend money just because we have it!

Also Magic Fans: Why the hell are WeltHam sitting on our hands!!! we are one of the few teams with Capspace! Sign somebody....Anybody!!!

Hahaha. No I didn't care if they signed anyone in free agency.

They need to be active with trades considering Orlando isn't a free agent destination. As you've illustrated it's been beneficial when they have made trades (to some extent).

It's interesting how many of the guys that play in Orlando don't seem to have enough value to draw trade interest. Probably because they are gauging interest at exactly the wrong times.

Why attempt to trade Bol in the draft after he rode the bench for the last 4 months essentially decreasing his value? Thats the point.

Oh hey Shad.

You said in the previous thread that the FO had a master plan when the news came out about them not knowing what to do and pushing it to a later date. Seems like I had all the info I needed to know he was getting waived. Or was that the 5% I didnt know?

Clearly they feel they may have a better option that could shake loose. Its literally a win win situation. Either Bol stays or we get an upgrade and let him go.

So wheres the upgrade?

We had some fun moments last year. It’s time to be a little more serious this year.

He’s such a fascinating prospect. So much potential just hasn’t got the head to utilise it right now. I hope he lands somewhere that can unlock his potential because he’d be exciting to watch if he puts it all together.

Maybe Snyder and the Hawks could get something out of him? Or Pop? Wemby/Bol twin towers take 2, lol. Portland will have minutes. He should try to get in with GSW because he could be a good fit for them in some ways.

Can someone give me the synopsis why he was release? I thought orlando fans really liked him. The GB always talks about how good he is.

I don’t know if he will ever have the fitness he needs. Staying in great shape would be to hard on his body?

GB not watching Magic games.

If you really watch him play, you know Is simply not capable of playing winning basketball.

Lost on defense and never passing the ball.

Super entertaining tough, that's for sure

Bol Bol - great skills and size, but absolutely terrible BBall IQ, he would do some amazing things, but in doing them also proving he wasn't playing winning team basketball. Right decision.
I still believe in Magic! Welcome to the Franz & Paolo era

Bol Bol was a casual fan’s dream because he was all highlights. If you followed the Magic primarily through social media, you certainly would have thought he was a full blown Wembanyama type unicorn.

But if you actually watched the games, you’d quickly realize he was more novelty act than serious basketball player.

The Magic were AWFUL when he was on the floor this past year. He was a wild and flat out of control turnover machine most of the time. He went legitimately like 2 months without hitting a three pointer.

He is also an awful defensive player despite being a capable shot blocker. His center of gravity is way too high to defend as a true big, but his change of direction ability in space is too poor to defend as a true wing. The only thing he could do capably was block shots as a weak side help defender.

His fun plays are legitimately really fun, but they’re surrounded by 6-7 awful plays on each end.

I hated the fact that he never passed. Ever. if he got the ball, he was going to shoot.
Never evolved into a team player.

Return to Orlando Magic
