I don't see either being anything other than a top-tier glue player, which is still pretty damn good, a lesser Draymond Green you could say, but the players above them I see having the potential to contribute more

It depends on what calibre of team you are talking about.

Some contenders are better than others.

Draymond is a 4 x All Star, NBA Second team, NBA DPOY and 4 x NBA Champion.

I'd wager 80% of that list doesn't have anything close to the career he has had.

Giddey is absolutely in my top 5-6.

The same stuff has been said about him consistently for the last 24 months and he just keeps improving. He's probably 15th or 16th on that list in terms of athleticism, but he'd be close to #1 in terms of actual basketball skills and BBIQ.

An 18 /19 year old has had no place doing what he's been doing running an NBA offence the way he has for the last 2 seasons.

Also before a Pacers fan gets mad at me, I'd have Bennedict Mathurin as a fringe lotto pick/just outside the lotto

I'm looking forward to seeing him in a starting role hopefully next season

Cade was massively overrated coming into the draft and is even more overrated now.

I'm referring to a top 3 seed with legit chances at a ring.

I wouldn't expect most of the list to have the career Dray did either. He's one of the best passing big men in NBA History, & is easily a top 3 defender in this generation, extreme versatality, and easily one of the best BBIQ in the NBA on both sides, especially on defense.

However, I see Giddey & Barnes as lesser than Dray passing/defensively so Dray being better than most of the list when its all said & done is null.

I think Giddey will be a positive contributor & solid starter, but his lack of athleticism is going to hold him back, along with not being a 3 pt threat (low percentage & 3 pt rate) & having a very mediocre FTr (.125).

Improving his 3 pt shot will be extremely important for his game, he's showed some improvements from his rookie season, lets see if he can build on it with more volume

What's your lotto list?

Cade at #3?
Kessler is a good role player but #3? Ahead of Sengun, Barnes, Giddey and such?
Sengun and Barnes/giddey at the bottom is ridiculous.

Only problem i have with that list is that we haven't even seen the rookies play AND Chet play against regular nba teams yet...

Who knows... stranger things might happen but the first bigman to actually bump Wemby might figuratively break him, Miller might lose his 3pt shooting, Scoot lose his handles against the regular nba guards etc etc

OKC has an all NBA player and 3 of the top 7 young players based on your list. So they should finish well ahead of the Magic this season who have no allstars, not really any vets except Ingles, and only 2 of the top young players?

These threads are always going to be controversial as every fan tends to inflate their own young players' potential.

And in line with the sentiment I just critiqued...I will enjoy coming back to these kinds of threads at the end of this season and laughing at those who doubted Cade!

Yes, despite playing in the tougher conference I would expect OKC to finish well ahead of the Magic this year. I think the Magic finish around the same spot as last year, ahead of teams like Charlotte and Detroit, probably also ahead of the Spurs and maybe the Blazers and Rockets. Wizards and Bulls have a chance to slip as well, though it's also possible for the Rockets to be better.

Okay, I have no problem calling the team that finishes with the best record this season as having the best young core.

No excuses from either side.

I like Kessler but don't think he should go top 10 in a 3 year redraft. Could change my mind easily if he keeps improving though.
Cade needs to show something for teams to keep their faith in him, he shouldn't be nowhere near top 10 either.

Barnes showed enough to be top 5, Giddey too. People call Franz solid but I do believe he can be an all start, he keeps getting better, it's always reassuring when players every year show up

No, Kessler is not top 15, Cunningham at 3 is bad as he barely makes the cut and only does so out of undisplayed potential, you have one twin and not the other which is odd - they are twins after all, Scoot is too low, Chet and Franz are slightly too high.

I’m going to guess that you didn’t see anything just looked at the standings.

As for this list, I don’t like including any players that haven’t played a minute in the NBA.

Entirely too early to gauge the 2023 draft or Chet.

Make a list with 2020-2022 instead.

Cade is way too high. He had an ok rookie season then proceeded to play terribly for a few games and miss his full second season. Based on this you have him #3?

I also think it's unfair to rank the rookies that haven't even played yet. We have no basis to rank them.
