Right now I would have Suggs as the Magic's fifth best player, behind Anthony and M-Wagner.

How did you reach this conclusion? You don’t add defensive impact? Or are you just going off scoring numbers and box scores?

There isn’t another unbiased Magic fan that believes Cole Anthony and M-Wagner are better players than Jalen Suggs in totality.

Cole needs to step his game up, or AB will pass him on the depth chart.

I’d like him to be…when he’s on, he’s fantastic.

Nobody else is flirting with that title, imo…it’s Paulo & Franz and then…”everyone else” for now. Tapping out early on Suggs is the scariest vision, imo. His mentality is as fierce as ANY player in the league.

Hard to say he is, but he should be. I’d definitely call him our 3rd most valuable (in terms of trade value/upside). I’ve said and still believe he’ll be better than Scottie long term.

3rd best... but once the game slows down offensively and he takes the blinders off and learns how to play offense and gains more experience I think there will be nights he'll fight being the 2nd best player.

I still believe in him being a star caliber player eventually.

agree. he hasnt shown any consistency to be called the 3rd best player. i do hope his current play shows dividends. I dont expect that type of play every night yet. but would be nice to see it every other game or so. we know his effort will be there

I guess defense doesn't count? Feels like people are only responding based on offensive ability. Defense is part of the game too and honestly could make an argument he's the second best player. I mean...his defense isn't just good or great...its pretty incredible.

I think our third best player is not on the roster. Hopefully he gets here soon

Through the first 9 games of this season i would say he's been our second best player. His offense is inconsistent but his defense is always impactful. Its not like Franz has been good TBH, he has struggled shooting the ball so far. Ofcourse, I expect Franz to turn it around, but for now I think Suggs has been better. At the end of the season, if Suggs can maintain his 35% shooting and make all-defensive team, he will be our 3rd best player.

Anyway, this is why you dont give up on a player because he had a bad rookie season. Now please stop including him in **** trade ideas . Suggs stays unless its in a package for a star.

Easily, he has stepped it up this year.

Couldn’t and-1 this more than once so quoting it to amplify it. Defense is 50% of the game and some just ignore it or cast it aside as a ‘nice to have’. It is not a ‘nice to have’, it’s how you win championships.

I’m not sure people understand that creating defensive opportunities and limiting your opponents fg% / ease of scoring is equally important and doesn’t show up for these box score nerds that dissect player worth into fg% and +/-.

Franz and Paolo are tasked with carrying the offense. They need the ball in their hands. If Suggs can continue shooting 3’s at a high clip he becomes the perfect compliment to them. Orlando’s defense is at the top of league and I don’t think it happens to be a coincidence in the year Suggs is starting.

I’d agree with the sentiment that our 3rd best player is a nightly distinction. Suggs has definitely been a big peice of our wins this year, defensively he’s been a maniac and he’s hitting big shots. Cole Anthony certainly has kept the Magic in some games as well. And someone mentioned Mo Wagner, I’m sorry but that dude is so freaking valuable off the bench it’s ridiculous, he’s doing what’s Suggs is for the front court. Issac has had a few nice games as well. I expect he’ll become a more important contributor as the season goes along. Depth is in fact our third best player.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

Crazy good. Between him and Franz 2025 off-season contract negotiations are going to be intense

Him and Black could be the best defensive backcourt in the league. ABs' defensive rating is like 6 pts lower than Chet's and Ausar's.
