What? You were waiting on the 7-1 guy with an 8 foot wingspan, 47 inch vertical, who’s shooting 47% from 3 and is reported to have a mean streak AND a left hand?

There's a Shaquille sized gulf between a 99 overall 2k create a player, and meh-level Jahmi'us Ramsey.
Dammit, he's going to be a bust nowPhilBlackson wrote:Lol I liked him in the 2nd round, hopefully he sticks and develops here.

Like whom?
About 400 players currently on NBA rosters, one for each Shaquille #.

I assume if you are "meh" on the signing you must have a better option in mind

When we struggled to rebound against the Pelicans, I kind of missed the 6'9 strategy.
With all the signings, where do our two, possibly 3, first round picks fit? Trades will happen? People will be waived? I know we won't see Brown or Boucher here next year, but we might get bodies back in those trades.

On contracts: Barrett, Poeltl, Kelly, Boucher, Scottie, Dick, McDaniels, Agbaji, JFL
RFA: Quickley (Bird), Porter (on 2 way but will be RFA)
UFA: GTJ (Bird), Nowra (Bird), Temple (Non-Bird)
Club Option: Brown
2 way: Carton, Gueye,
10 day: Ramsey
Assuming no trades:
9 guys on contract, IQ re-signed, and Brown back is 11.
2 1st round picks makes it 13.
That means there's probably 2 spots left up for grabs between GTJ, Nwora, Temple, Porter and any FA signing we wish to make.
Carton and Gueye are the 2 ways so there's one spot left, which I ASSUME will go to our 2nd rounder unless Ramsey gets the spot, in which case we only have 1 spot available between GTJ, Nwora, Temple, Porter and any FA signing we wish to make. I think reserving the 2 way for our 2nd rounder is more likely, which means Ramsey is likely out. I think GTJ is back on a prove it short term deal and is subsequently moved during the season.
Given that our spots are pretty much locked up, but with a clear need to improve depth, I SUSPECT there's going to be at least 1 offseason trade where we have more players going out than coming in, whether it's a Brown/Boucher into cap space or exceptions, or we end up packaging McDaniels with one of them (I'm scared at this proposition because I feel like it will require a 2nd round pick going out to do so). The extra roster spot will be replaced by an exception signing. I also would not be surprised to see a deal where we package Brown and one of our 1st rounders to move up if there's a guy we like, or even to move back a year to 2025 if there isn't a guy we like, and maybe a contender like the Nuggets or 76ers want to bring Brown and a bit of youth back in.

If we keep our pick and the Pacers pick is in the late teens, I think this is a real possibility. I don't feel comfortable going into next season still owing the Spurs a pick and not having any other picks in '25, taking us entirely out of the draft.
