Nobody could possibly think this is a realistic path to success?

But maybe they know LeBron isn't coming back so why not get a cheap coach and start the rebuild?

Nah, this is specifically meant to appease Lebron. He's in on it and he's not going nowhere. They probably planned this for months
during those podcasts.

I said it on the first page, I chuckled when Ham got fired and all these names came out...and not Redick. Especially knowing he has an interest in coaching and did interviews for other teams. I knew 100% it's gonna be him.

As I know for a fact the #55 is reserved for Bronny. Our 1st will be packaged for a 3rd star(we can trade multiple firsts again) and our only second will be to get Bronny.

I mean knowing it's true, and liking it are 2 different things...

Of course this is all to appease LeBron, and of course it's likely to happen... And I'm sure we're perfectly prepared to burn a pick on Bronny... I wouldn't be surprised if we do it a lot higher than 55.

Just like of course it's not going to get us a championship...

Being Nostradamus about a bad result isn't going to get many thumbs up... I mean, good call, but FU, just the same.

And my thing isn't that Reddick is going to be a bad coach... I'm sure he'll be about as good as Ham and Vogel were, because I can't think of a worse coaching gig than trying to coach LeBron AND Bronny... We'll end up trading Rivers for Mitchell and Mitchell will be fighting for minutes with Bronny...

So I agree with your predictions, but see them as evidence the team I grew up with is long gone, and have to decide if there's any point following the next few seasons...

JJ will end up like Luke Walton. The Lakers are desperate for a 40-year-old. I'm on the "can't wait until LeBron retires" train. I'm tired of the influence this guy has on franchises. I gave it a try, and I'm honestly fed up. Not even Michael Jordan had this type of sway with the Bulls.

I feel ya brother... If we bypass real NBA players for Bron's kid the ownership group is done. No one will take them seriously again.

Bickerstaff. Please, Jeannie. Ask Stu Lantz. He knows ball. He’d pick BJ.

I don't know If I'll be watching any games If Lakers select Bronny, I just don't know If I can hack It, I've barly survivied Lakers with Bron... But maybe If I'm drinking and It's the wknd, we'll see - but for now It'll be only highlights If they select him ...

Lakers already gone for all the hype In selecting L.Ball over Tatum which was crazy to begin with, not that I didn't like Ball, but everyone wanted Tatum. Now they going again for all HYPE and selcting Bronny with 17th? Is the draft really that weak, lot people say he not ready?
My Go Team
Magic, Jordan, Bird, Duncan, Shaq

My Counter

Maybe we'll get super lucky, and some other team grabs Bronny just to see if it gets Lebron. And then Lebron wants a trade/opt out. Would be the best case scenario for me. The FO sure as hell ain't gonna get us outa this mess. So I'm hoping the basketball gods do it in spite of them.

First off, it's JB and not BJ :D

The guy was horrible when he coached Houston, then again was bad when he took over in Memphis. Grizz still wanted to see his Full HC status and he went 23% and 40% winning %. Yes, his roster was pretty bad but a smart tactician would have found ways to create a system that would work somehow like the Utah,OKC and Memphis coach.
He moved to Cleveland and sucked there too... until he got good players like Allen, Garland, Mobley and Lauri.
Last season they won 48 games but was eliminated by Boston...
One would think this guy might have found a pretty good formula to lead this team to somewhere and yet FO still fired him, why?
Surely this team wanted to keep the nucleus esp Mitchell and I'm guessing they asked the players esp Mitchell and Garland what they thought about their coach...

If I could design the perfect staff for him - I'd go:

- Stan Van Gundy (DC - Lead Assistant)
- Jay Triano (OC)
- Scott Brooks (Veteran Support)
- Phil Handy (Player Development Lead)
- Jared Dudley
- Rajon Rondo
- Miles Simon

SVG + Scott Brooks already blew well past Jeanie's entire decades assistants' budget. Remember they've been cutting down on the number of coaches & medical staff every year, not adding to them.

Bron's decision to have Bronny snub all other trials for Suns & Lakers is also an all time dumbass decision IMHO. I mean why tf would you pick probably two of the worst youth development and overall absolute dumpster fire directionless franchises like that for your kid's formative years. Puzzling stuff indeed.

Adelman was the analytics community's top pick. They didn't even interview him.

JJ very much feels like the box office draw that'll help draw attention away from Jeanie & Rob's complete ineptitude for running things. Absolutely disgusting the way this works.

You’re tripping. Hurley would be a great pick what does that have to do with LeBron?

How am I tripping?

He is objectively a far better pick than JJ, just based on the fact that he has actual coaching experience.B2b champion that was about to get paid more than Jeanie's last 4 coaches combined - IN COLLEGE!!!

Some notes on from a UConn friend that follows basketball very seriously -
- UConn had the greatest offense in college ball the last 2 seasons. Truly amazing stuff. Constant motion on the weakside, actions that build off each other to keep defenses guessing. In 2023 they won the tournament in dominant fashion, beating every team by double digits. They lost 3 starters to the NBA, and then followed it up by going 37-3 the following season going b2b
- Against the spread, UConn went undefeated in the tournament which is unheard of beating Vegas models every time
- He is very passionate, a great leader and speaker. Comes from basketball royalty, his father is prob the greatest highschool coach ever
- He has the old school toughness that preaches defense and rebounds with the new Xs and Os schemes. Really one of the best coaches in the world IMO
- Luke Murray studies a lot of offenses in Europe and gets his stuff from there. The prayer is that he gets Murray along as his lead assistant

This franchise isn't a coach away from relevance again.... it's an ownership group away. A broken down LeBron at the end of his career and Davis with no picks and few assets isn't going to magically turn into a championship run with the highest compensated coach in the NBA. It's actually more proof that the ownership group is grasping at straws, name recognition and eyeballs over substantive team building.
