he's a great dude and it's easy to see, very important for the Nuggets to get this done before the season starts, so that's not hanging over everyone's head. I guess they haven't been able to reach the same agreement with Peyton Watson

25M isn't that much this days, CB is solid, durable and this deal will run though his best years. for what he's shown in the past, in a vacuum he isn't worth 25M but it's not like the Nuggets can realistically replace him, so their leverage is pretty limited, plus - they love their guy, so that makes it alot easier

in the pre-season CB has flashed things we haven't seen from him before. it's evident he has put in alot of work, both into his 3 ball and his ball handling. seems like we'll be seeing CB doing more ball-handling (especially for the 2nd unit) and even playmaking. we're gonna be seeing more plays called for the Jokic\CB PNR and two-man game

we'll have to see it in real games, not just in preseason but CB is a very hard worker and seems clearly improved, even compared to just last season which only ended a couple of months ago

if he can reliably give the team those things, in addition to what he already brings to the table - he'll be worth that 25M for sure, he will basically be a legit #3, skill-set wise. he got Josh Giddey money, I think they're pretty comparable in terms of impact etc.

He is a valuable player for that team, but he is just an average player with limited upside and there are tons of them around the league. A fair contract should be similar to what Norm Powell is getting.

Pretty fair deal. He probably took a bit of a paycut to stay with the team, but that's cool. And it's a 5 year deal so he's set for life.

dude, he's only 24 and has improved every year since coming into the league

the Nuggets won an historic ring in his rookie season, with him playing some meaningful playoff mins and have competed ever since, so he had to take a backseat. if he was drafted in the lottery by a tanking team, he might have been perceived differently. he's evolved into an overall good player, with very few holes in his game. he is now improving his ball handling and playmaking, albeit as a secondary role to take pressure of the top guys.

you have a guy like Austin Reaves that was heralded as the best #3 in the league. while Reaves is a better shooter and half-court scorer, he's a liability on defense. CB isn't that far off offensively and is well above average defensively, at times he's been their best POA defender on certain player types

Powell had one hot year and will turn 33 this season, already declining while CB isn't even 25, still developing and working hard on his craft (with noticable results year by year) not even near his prime

Meh... Nuggets could put a lot of players in Braun's spot to get production. Don't get me wrong, I like the kid but just not 125M good lol.

Why?

cuz he's a great defender, tenacious, disciplned, doesn't take plays off, works hard and his combo of positional awareness, coupled with his end to end speed and bursting power + hops and finishing ability coupled with Jokic's elite passing, make him one of the best and most prolific transition scorrers in the entire league. he puts an immense pressure with the threat of him just taking off, bee-lining withouth the ball towards the opposition's basket :)

Is he a lot better than Grayson Allen? Is he better than Dyson Daniels?

Seems like a role player, not a 1st, 2nd or 3rd option. I guess if he can be a super role player like Caruso then it's worth it.

He needs to improve his screen navigation. He wasn't good last year. If he does, the Nuggets have a much better chance at being a decent defensive team. If not, it will be an issue as it the pulls Jokic into the positions he's not good at defending. He did look better at it during the playoffs, so that makes me hopeful, but I'm not totally sure why as I would never really fault his effort.

He also could improve his 3 ball a bit. He shot a great percentage last year, but a lot of those were wide open and he'd avoid more contested threes. If he can work on his release and get more comfortable shooting with his man one step closer, it makes him a much more valuable floor spacer.

I don't think this will ever end up being a really bad contract - he bring a ton of positives to the floor and is entering what should be his prime - but if he can improve those two things, it will be a very good one for the Nuggets.

Exactly. Hated him for these traits in the finals a couple years ago.

A bit of a pumpkin in the playoffs, though. 13 ppg on 55 TS% in 14 games last season.

EPM ranking from last season

51 Christian Braun (O +1.6; D +0.7)
78 Dayson Daniels (O -0.9; D +2.4)
251 Grayson Allen (O +0.3; D -1.2)

Advanced stats are not everything but may point to right direction

For the people asking if he is worth it. Also makes CB like the 15th highest paid starting SG in the league(if you accounting for starting salary next year which will be starting at 21.6 million). Which seems about right.

Norm Powell is on 1 year contract, making $20,482,758
Christian Braun next year when his extension starts $21,551,742
pretty simmilar, and I guess Heat will resign Norm on longer contract

I think from preseason alone, it was easy to see he has indeed worked on releasing quicker from 3 and learning to let it fly more. he's gonna shoot more and better this year, by the looks of it

ur 100% correct about his screen navigation and obviously some other stuff he def needs to work on more, he's still just 24, he's not a finished product by any means
