Man what a clown . Wrong about his attempts, playing like crap, completely overrated. time to keep your mouth shut and keep bricking the Clips out of relevancy.

Beal has always been and always will be a clown.

The true definition of a me first player and has never amounted to winning anything or being a good teammate.

Honestly glad he didn't choose the Lakers.

I know many of the Clippers fans have very high expectation on Beal raising their ceiling, but I wonder how many of you have seen him play last season. I know the Suns sucked and unwatchable last season and I'm not putting it on Beal, but he is part of the problem. He can barely move. He can't get by anyone, he can't get any separation against average POA defender, not enough lift to finish around the basket, and getting blown by over and over putting the defense in shamble. If he still relies on his athleticism to score, he is finished as a scorer. Unless he adapt his game, I don't see him getting much better. He may shot better, but the day he can carry an offense ala Norman Powell did last year when Kawhi is out of the lineup is long gone.

I am not at all disagreeing with your assessment (I didn't watch him play last year.) I am curious though how he was still able to post a season line of FG%/3PT%/2PT% of 49.7/38.6/56.5 with his physical decline.

He's on the floor with 2 of the top 3 floor spacers in the NBA (Durant and Booker). Arguably no one in the entire NBA had a clearer path to the basket.

I'm not too sure about that explanation. Beal is not a "great" player, but he's also not the worst. Beal had a good amount of games off the bench last season, which meant a lot of no Durant or Booker, or only one of them minutes. Here are his starter vs bench:

Starter:
48.7% FG / 38.0% 3PT
Bench:
52.9% FG / 40.7% 3PT

Obviously he's being ramped up and won't shoot this poorly all season. The question is how well he will do in other areas that aren't shooting, but no, he's not going to be a 36/33 guy for the year and will likely be close to 48-50 / 37-40. His main goal is to not hurt the team (he's been at least ~0 or better in NetRtg in all of his past recent seasons except last season, but Booker was even -0.9 last season), and help take scoring load from Harden and Kawhi like Powell did.

Beal refused to accept any change in his role for the Suns. He got real pissy about it, saying the Suns were trying to change who he was. Nah man, time and injuries did that to you, the people with eyes simply want you to accept reality -- you ain't a superstar anymore.

Players like Beal, Embiid, Melo, etc who lack self awareness and accountability tend to fall short in the careers, imo.

Looking forward to the day Bradley goes from quiet-quitting to actually quitting this league.

The better question is, when was the last time you MADE 14 shots as a Phoenix Sun?

Just to note, Beal is still on a minutes restriction.
Bro, on a vet min or no, if Beal chooses this occasion where he went 2/14 in a bad loss to a bad team, to go on a rant about himself getting more shots - it's def time to write him off

Some players can't make a succesful transition from a star player to role player. He's not the first and he won't be the last

Clippers were great last season and extremely competitive even without Kawhi

They have about the same roster minus Powell and they look really bad. Beal is def a factor in that.

Add Ja Morant to that (which i think is a reason why The Grizz will find it difficult to trade him unless for significant market unders)

Ironically, I don't think Russell Westbrook has those same team disruptive qualities (he was very good for Denver last season)

He just didn't really have a great fit/role since his prime years at OKC (he and KD were one of the very best duos in the NBA at the time, kind wish they stayed together)

Beal is the type of fool like Arenas and Melo who will constantly bad mouth former teammates and coaches when he retires.

I know some fans love that type of negative 'gossip' but I always found it cowardly and unseemly, and doesn't enhance the image of the NBA and its players at all.

I remember when Carmelo Anythony had that twitter spat with George Karl a few years ago, i genuinely think he was shocked and surprised by how many fans/tweeters sided with Uncle George, who has always been one of the most beloved elder statesmen of the NBA (who should be appreciated even more now as we keep seem to lose so many older iconic/legendary players and coaches every year sadly)

Coach Karl earned almost universal respect from all throughout his coaching career, Melo didn't.

I really don't think talented players who didn't win much as players like Melo and Bear should be in the Hall of Fame tbh, i think character needs to play a part in HOF eligibility (having said that, it's also believe Karl Malone should be booted from the HOF for character reasons, but that is a discussion for another time

Oh trust me, there are a lot of players I could add to this list that think much higher than themselves but lack accountability and awareness but I just went with what was at the top off my head.

That said, Ja is an excellent choice for this list and probably the poster boy right now.

I hate how people are now trying to put Enbiid in this category.
His career was AMAZING for the type of medical history he's had.

• The last time Beal got exactly 14 shots up for the Suns was the 12th of March 2025 in a loss to the Rockets.

• The last time Beal got more than 14 shots up was the 9th of April 2025. He took 17 shots in a loss to OKC.

Washington giving him a big contract and a no trade clause really went to his head.

Replacing Powell (who's killing it on the Heat) for a washed up Beal is one of the stupidest moves in the Ballmer era, just like it was the stupidest move for the Suns trading for Beal and that albatross contract in the Mat Ishbia era.

With an attitude like that in the clippers locker room, they are going absolutely nowhere this season.

I get it that it's fun to bash struggling players, but what Beal is going through is pretty typical for players who were the #1 for another team for years and are asked to transition to another role due to age/injuries/performance. They're always going to believe that if they get the ball in their hands and get the shots up, that they will start to produce. It's just how they're wired.

Here's a quote from Beal the other day:

“When you allow me to be that guy, I’ll be that,” Beal said. “But when you have two coaches that want you to set screens and play in the dunker, you’re not Brad Beal. You’re somebody else.”

Now some players can handle the transition from star to role player and that's admirable, but it doesn't always happen and it's not necessarily going to be seamless.

Ty Lue got canned in Cleveland because of his loyalty to his non-performing vets and refusal to start raw players over them. Coaches trying to instill confidence in their vets to get the most out of them is hardly something new either.

It's not a bad thing to do, it's just not always the right thing to do.

Don't think we should remove accountability off him and give the responsibility to someone polluting his mind.

Beal has an inflated view of self that comes from himself. This isn't necessarily rare for NBA players, but some are better at realizing when they are no longer who they were than others, and not all of them are going to say it out loud. Of course the "who they were" for Beal has never been anything that great, second tier All-Star who has been injury prone since 26 years old and not a lead guy.

JXL wrote:Replacing Powell (who's killing it on the Heat) for a washed up Beal is one of the stupidest moves in the Ballmer era, just like it was the stupidest move for the Suns trading for Beal and that albatross contract in the Mat Ishbia era.

Clippers don't want large contracts past the 26-27 season, unless it's a building block player or guy that is young on a solid contract. Mann was traded for Bogdanovic (+ 3 2nds) for a similar reason. The team is making flexibility moves (get more draft picks, have less committed cap), which they have to do, because they don't control their draft picks.

Powell has a year left, he's due for a new contract and he's 32 years old himself. He did great for the team, but obviously he's not going to agree to a one year deal at 33 years old to help the Clippers cap situation, and obviously he's not a building block player.

They traded him for Collins who expires too, but younger (-4 years) and could command less money if you do decide to keep him along. The team also wanted a big forward on the roster that would allow them to not essentially be playing Kawhi at the 4 so much.

Beal simply became available as another scoring guard option to fill that role who they could get for cheap and who they wouldn't need to give a long or large contract past 26-27 since he's still getting paid by Phoenix.

These moves aren't all about player performance, it's about flexibility, which the team obviously needs due to draft pick situation.
