RealGm called that he would have to be out of basketball for a bunch with a blood cloth?

Impressive.

Doubt they even tried because of the tax situation.

i say this as people keep bringing this scrub up. He played one season for us and people are treating him like hes their long lost son.

Raptors fans have some weird “prodigal son” fetish:

1. Former Raptors players
2. Canadian NBA players

He was never good, but because now you can always say what if? - it's an endless fountain of Realgm scribe fetish content.

Impressive.

Yah, it's super weird for fans to cheer for players who were on their favourite team or who come from their country. Definitely a weird fetish and definitely unique to Raptors fans.

its not to cheer but always want them back. its pretty small minded to be honest. there's a whole pool of NBA players to choose from and you're gonna go out on a limb and want the guy who didn't do anything significant in their time as a Raptor (or never, from the Canadian basketball players pool)

He played 28 minutes tonight.

Team high +23
3 steals
1 block

Sure could've used his interior defense tonight.

It's on the FO that we're dropping these easy-to-win games because of their incompetence and refusal to address a glaring hole in our rotation. A backup big would help a ton. But hey, I'm sure Temple's leadership is more important to this team.

Problem is, we likely are waiting till Jan 15 for certain targets or options to be tradeable. Obviously they know we have a glaring need, but I promise you (despite a powerhouse 3 steal + 1 block performance) we'll be fine without Koloko.

Koloko has been decent this year. We probably didn't sign him due to tax complications.

Yet many posters at the start of the season were saying the tax situation was no big deal and would have no tangible impact on the roster construction. Hey, how about the Temple guy, amazing vibes.

Having Temple on the roster is probably costing us wins since we can’t sign a big lol. They’ll have to get rid of someone else to do it

Yeah, iirc we could have signed an undrafted rookie at a lower scale to fill that 14th player minimum requirement which would allows us to be slightly under the tax. A rookie backup big would have been ideal.

To me this tax situation stems from overpaying IQ as well. If he was paid a few million less in FA, we'd have ample wiggle room, but we chose to overpay despite him being a RFA because we got cold feet. I know we overpay sometimes to keep UFAs, but we didn't have to do that with his RFA status.

I don't think it's weird at all. You don't think Serbian fans support Serbian players because they are Serbian? Or Lithuanians because they are Lithuanian? I am sure Boston fans or NY fans would love players that come from those cities. Montreal Canadian fans love players that come from Quebec.

Do you think it's weird that Jeremy Lin was so popular among asian fans? I would completely understand if there were Indian players in the NBA & Indian fans were excited to have them on the team.

It's called representation. Canada is a small country, so players simply making the NBA is a big deal. If you have a half decent player from your coutry playing on your local team, it should be celebrated. Canada is only 1/10th of the population of the US & there was a time (not very long ago) when there was only 1 or 2 players from Canada in the NBA & neither of them were good.

I will always support Canadian players & cheer for them proudly.. if they are on the local team, even better.

Tried to lay on the sarcasm pretty thick, but I guess not thick enough.

But yah, agree with you 100%
