We would give up outlaw jack and webster for Harris, absolute insanity :banghead:

well you wouldnt give up webster too. its basically you guys give up outlaw, jack, frye and maybe your first for harris and whatever else the mavs decide to give you. Still if you look at the big picture for you guys, harris, roy, james jones/webster, aldridge and oden is a very good team.

As some insightful guy wrote on the Blazers board, this trade "rumor" is just some NJ writer's wet dream.

I've seen more realistic stuff from drunks on a realgm thread.

As much as I like Marcus you guys should pick up Harris (6'3") in my opinion... He is the best piece of that deal and you are giving up a former all star... Harrs > Outlaw, Frye and Jarret combined... None of those guys even start... Harris, RJ and whoever you get for VC would be a solid place to start...

He's a small part of the trade, but I'd like to see Channing in NJ. Channing & RJ are close too. They hang out all the time, and ofcourse have the arizona connection. Rumor has it that RJ used to get Channing to party and drink, so Channing would be a lessgood player, but who knows if that's true.

Channing is really bitter against NY and Isiah. You can tell sometimes when he's interviewed, so he'd make an interesting addition to Jersey, with his bitter dislike of Isiah and his desire to prove himself to the city that traded him away.

All that being said, Channing showed promise and when his shot falls, it's a thing of beauty, but I'm not sold on him as a player. He's not a good rebounder or defender, slow reaction time on his feet and too inconsistant. But having a 6'9 guy (listed 6'11, but really 6'9), who can shoot from out to the 3 pt line can be a good thing. I like Channing and I'd like to see him in Jersey. But I wouldn't talk about his potential, cause he's gotten worse every year he's been in the league, so unless he can turn that trend around, I don't think he's ever going to be much more than a sub who occasionally has a good game.

2 years ago I loved channing but last year, when we needed him and he wasn't there, I soured on him. I think Blazer fans aren't keen on him either.

Frye measured out at 6'10.5" in shoes at the predraft camp

:D

I know, and he's 6'9 1/4 w/o shoes, which is how most of us are measured.

It's just, when Frye stands next to Garnett, Garnett has 3 inches on him. I guess it's a thing with me, if somebody's an actual height, I want to say that they are that height. Frye's a little small to be playing center. Might be fair to list him as 6'10, but 6'11 is misleading. It implies that he's tall for a PF and he's really not.

anyway, I'm not commenting on the trade, though rebuilding doesn't seem a bad way to go, since you can probably get value for both Kidd & Carter.

Just saying I'd like to see Frye land in Jersey, as I like watching him play and I'd follow him a bit more if he came back east.

The New Jersey Nets are in serious negotiations with the Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers about a blockbuster three-way trade that would send Jason Kidd to the Mavericks, league sources said Wednesday afternoon.

In the proposed trade, Dallas and Portland would send the Nets a package that includes the Mavs' Devean George and Jerry Stackhouse and Blazers forwards Travis Outlaw and Channing Frye and guard Jarrett Jack. Mavericks point guard Devin Harris would be sent to Portland. Along with Kidd, the Nets would send reserve forward Malik Allen and center Jamaal Magloire to Dallas.

The Nets would also receive at least one future No. 1 pick and cash. It's expected that New Jersey would work a buyout with Stackhouse and allow him to be a free agent. Other players could be included to balance the exchange of contracts.
If the Nets will buyout Stack, I'm sure lots of fans will agree that its ideal to trade him for shorter contracts for a cheap buy out. How about Smush & Zo for Stack?

No, Kidd won't go anywhere. All talk but no fire. Maybe in the offseason.

Thorn has to figure out how to get very good with the old guys still on the team, or much younger/cheaper and inspire hope for the future. The status quo of mediocre-without-potential isn't acceptable.

I'm actually kind of interested in acquiring Jason Terry ;=x

Just because I'd like change while not completley sucking and who knows sometimes crazy things happen and they work out in ways you wouldn't expect them too...

Kidd > Terry

But maybe Terry could inject some life into this team.

Our best option is to keep Kidd until the offseason.
ATM were not gonna get anywhere close to full value and the 3 way deal that's being tossed around in rumors isnt even CLOSE to being worth it for us.

^No. The best option is to wait until the deadline and see how the draft picks will shape out the deal. Dallas would probably throw in a first rounder and the Blazers would probably throw in a 2nd and the rights to one of their players.

I don't get it?

If we are going to send Kidd to Dallas why not deal straight up with them?

How bout Kidd for Terry, Stackhouse and Bass?

Why would you do that? No 1 year contracts and Brandon Bass is the only player maybe promising. This trade is bad for the Nets, especially when we hopefully (and sources say its true) land Outlaw, Jack, Stack, & Frye WITH 1st rounders!. (Still don't know why Portland would do this but fine with me!  :D :P

Who wouldn't do this deal? JJ, Outlaw and even Frye all have potential. You get 3 expiring contracts and 2 1st rounders. This is the best scenario i have heard of for us.

I hope to God this deal gets done

As a general rule of thumb, if you feel like you're ripping the other team off, you probably are.

I'm not saying anything negative about Kidd, but the Blazers are dramatically overpaying for Harris. There may be potential to do a deal here, but I think the Blazers will need to give up less, and the Mavs need to give up more.

I definatly know that Portland is getting ripped off. Outlaw, Frye, Jack, cash, &/or a 1st is definatly overpaying for Harris and maybe someone else (Bass). I don't mind that because its benefitting us though. They probably want to make way for their Europeans on their roster.
