What good do us to win 50 games, and get our a$$ kick during the playoffs?
This team has too many flaws, to make some real noise in the postseason, I said it already a bunch of times, but after the playoffs this year, A lot of people HERE, will be very dissapointed, hope I'm wrong, but that is my opinion.

I think the assumption is that if we are able to win 50 games, that we're probably at least a 2nd round Playoff team.

Making the second round would be progress, and I think that most reasonable Magic fans would be happy to see that progress.

Alot of you guys are just happy being average.

Just happy making the playoffs.

SAS is on point. There is no focus in our organization, there is no leadership, and its starts in the front office. Our PG's are horrible and we simply need some new personnel.

We need guys with a Win or Die mentality.

We are 12 games over 500 for reason only. Raw Talent.

And that will take us only so far.

This is a pretty dumb assessment considering the age of most of our players. Dwight has improved by leaps and bounds every year and this team added 2 starters this year. By sheer experiance and comfort playing together we will get better next year. It is rediculous to think a team led by a 22 year old won't improve.

The only 2 teams better than us in the East are sure not built for the long haul. We need to remember that. The Magic are built to win in the comming years, not this year. The Celts and Pistons are the exact opposite.

Some people are so blinded by winning they forget the bigger picture. The goal is to become a contender, not to sell our soul for a 2 year window. Ask Miami how that works out in the end.

And not meaning to egg it on or anything but i saw it last night at the game.

We were repeatedly getting destroyed by the same pick and roll plays and jump shots all day.

I could swear all of Dallas second half points were off jumpers.

And it just kept happening and guys were just looking around lost.

A team talks to each other and makes sure everyone does their jobs, gets on each other, and goes to the trenchs together.

We dont have that.

The vast majority of those jumpers were closely contested. Dallas made an absurd amount of tough shots last night. They are a good shooting team and sometimes they will get you. I thought after the show start the Magic played well last night. I am not apposed to getting a guy like Andre Miller as a stabalizing force and upgrade at PG. I am apposed to this win now sensability that this thread gets the minute we taste a little success. The team is further along right now than most expected, yet all we get is negativity. This is because the minute we start to win everyone wants to win a title now. This team is built to take over the east when Boston and Detroit fall apart.

I see what your saying about winning in the long run...But haves doubts when i think of Rashard, his age, and his contract.

His signing pretty much said we want to try and win now and we think this is the guy to take us there.

He's 28.

For what it's worth, Andre Miller is 31. (32 in a few days)

Or now and later.

For the most part,Steven A. Is wrong...like the earlier poster said, I agree that a successful season in my book this year is getting to the 2nd round.Teams dont just explode in one year like the NFL. it takes time to build a champion in the NBA. We've got a young team, with a franchise center thas gonna dominate the league for at least the next 10 seasons. A 2nd round appearance shows growth, and gives them the experience of knowing what its like to win a series. However, he is correct about our PG position. Lets face it, Jameer is not the answer, and Otis went ahead and gave him an extension. We get no playmaking, or defense from that position. We also have a pretty lame front office, Otis is solid, but he overpaid for rashard by at least 50 mil, and gave Jameer "starting PG $". Plus our draft history has been horrendous unless we get the #1 pick. We definitely do need a better draft, but all we need is another playmaker in the backcourt, and a legit PF. Plus dwight is young and locked up so we have a 5 year window to get there.

It's easy to complain about getting this, or getting rid of that.

It's not so easy to do it.

Howard's evolution is not yet complete. The Magic won't win a title until he gets there. Maybe that's next year, maybe 3 years from now.

In the meantime you just have to have hope that the other pieces contribute enough along the way.
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

Is he a max player?
Is he considered a franchise player?
Does he have 6 more years on his contract?

Mentioning Miller is worth nothing.

Or now and later.

You do realize that rashard is in his prime.

We are seeing his best basketball right nowww.

Also he has been in the league for 10 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wear and Tear buddy...Face it rashard is not the answer for long term.

i hate SAS to death...i was just reporting what he said...no one else agreed that we would be the worst of the teams mentioned, in fact no one else put us in the list, but just outside of the list, teams like SEA and SAC were in there in place of us and NJ...

his comments about our scouting and front office had me a little curious though...and i agree that there is no "leader" Dwight has flashes, but he dos trail off...the focus thing is a given i think so is the PG situation and the not listening to the coach, well SVG hits on that during almost every post game show...so not all points are valid, but there is some validity there...

but for whatever the case, SAS just had a bowl of hate magic cereal this morning i guess...

I absolutely hate SAS.. But unfortunately a lot of what he said struck a cord with me. He's right. Why won't our players commit defensively. Why wont our leader commit defensively. Why won't our leader lead the team instead of pouting all the time. Our PGs are trash. Pat Garrity is getting minutes again.

He did a pretty good job describing our club.

Yeh he has good points but ranking as the worst in the NBA is foolish.

New York should come to mind right off the bat.
