Pat Riley to miss some games to do some scouting..

It's a long season, players have breaks why shouldn't a coach?

It seems a good idea to have a break and renew the batteries - do any of you have any idea how much time coaching takes?

Surely the coaching staff should also be good enough to take over without all the pressure and what's more they will learn from the experience.

I only see positives in this.

Every coach should have a break during the season - seems even supporters do that .

And there lies the problem of having Riley in dual roles...

I love Riley though, hes gonna fly in and out and watch games, thats pretty stressful when he could just watch on TV in his mansion...loving his commitment.

I think 5 ? I know memphis had the worst record and ended up with the 4th or 5th pick I beleive.. I just hope we get lucky man. As long as we get a top 2 pick I think we will be fine.

4. The top 3 picks are the lottery picks where teams can advance, so if 3 teams behind us "win" the lottery and get picks 1-3, as the team with the worst record we can be no lower than 4. So add 3 to the rank of worst position we are (1 being worst record, 2 behind second worst), and that's the lowest we can go.

fwiw, Riley actually scouted Wade AT the tournaments during 03.

So, he's done this before.....

Thats not true. Kaman was invited by the Heat for several times for closer look but Riley opted for Wade. I remember Riley then said that the first time he saw Wade play was while he was in his hotel room in Milwaukee and was impressed. What was sure and even Riley admit it is if Bosh was available, he will pick him ahead of Wade during that time.

Riley always has the final say. Obviously its another reason why we can say he choose Wade.

Riley was set to pick Kaman, it was Pfund & our staff that wanted Wade. There was an article a few months back on his topic, and if I am not mistaken it was posted on the boards.
