A bit extreme. He is a poor all-around player, but he is an excellent role player.
Answer this: who would u rather have on your team, Gooden or Nocioni? Gooden or Thabo? Gooden or Noah?
So Noc, Thabo and Noah have no possibly long term role on this team? Role players
I would definitely rather have Noah and Thabo. Noah looks like he could become an elite rebounder/defender if he can add some bulk. He's been playing better defense recently and his rebounding is inconsistent because he gets pushed around too much and sometimes forgets to box out. If he can add some bulk he'll become infinitely more consistent and be able to defend the stronger big men.
As for Thabo, he's not offensively gifted, but he knows his role on offense. He back cuts for easy baskets, passes the ball well, and occasionally has a hot shooting night. On defense, when he feels compelled to give full effort, he is one of the best defenders in the league. The problem is, a lot of times because he doesn't get consistent minutes, he gives less effort because he feels it doesn't matter how hard he tries, we're just going to dump him on the bench next week.
If he were on a more offensively gifted team, say with a superstar talent like Kobe, Dwayne, or LeBron, where he could be on the court more consistently, I think he would become one of those very rare shutdown defenders in the era of hand check fouls.
I know the Bulls can score, but they are very inconsistent from night to night. On a team where they knew that one guys was going to give them 28 points a night, Thabo could start because they wouldn't need him to score. His 10 ppg per 36 minutes would be plenty next to a guy who puts up 28 a night. It would be the same as two guys on another team putting up 19 ppg.
